ALEXANDER ISAK had to be helped off the pitch immediately after scoring the opener against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Liverpool forward broke the deadlock in North London with a deft finish from a Florian Wirtz through ball.
The forward, who has struggled to find form since making his £130million transfer from Newcastle in the summer, latched on to the ball and finished to the right of Spurs stopper Guglielmo Vicario in the 56th minute.
But he then landed awkwardly on top of Micky van de Ven, who had slid to try and block the attempted shot.
Instead of celebrating, Isak remained on the floor and appeared distraught as his team-mates surrounded him.
Isak seemed to be gesturing to his left leg, which had been caught by Rodrigo Bentancur’s studs in a painful collision just minutes earlier.
Medical staff arrived quickly to treat Isak, but it soon became clear that he would be unable to continue.
A stretcher was initially prepped for the Swede, but in the end he was propped up by the physios as he limped off the field.
Isak has been plagued by injury and fitness issues since making the switch to Anfield, with fans concerned that this latest setback could be a serious one.
The 26-year-old was replaced on the pitch by Jeremie Frimpong, another summer arrival who has struggled with injuries this season.
