Tottenham Hotspur fans have just been handed some good news about the club’s pursuit of Antoine Semenyo as Bournemouth’s latest plans regarding the winger have now come to light.

The speculation linking Semenyo with a move to Spurs has been going unabated over recent weeks and shows no signs of stopping.

Some outlets have even claimed that Tottenham have identified Semenyo as the ideal choice to replace Heung-min Son, who is being heavily linked with a move to Saudi Arabia.

A few days ago, The Athletic claimed that Spurs may call off their pursuit of Semenyo due to Bournemouth’s high asking price, but a fresh update has now suggested that the Cherries may be worried about losing their star man to the Lilywhites.

Bournemouth making contingency plans for Antoine Semenyo

Football Insider have now claimed that Spurs have made contact with the South Coast club regarding the Ghana international’s availability.

The report points out that Bournemouth are in a strong negotiating position since Semenyo is contracted to the club until 2029, and they have thus asked Tottenham to pay £70m for the player.

However, despite the huge price tag, it does not seem like the Cherries are too confident that the winger will remain at the club.

In fact, the outlet says that Andoni Iraola’s men feel there is a ‘very real possibility’ that Semenyo may leave this summer and are already making contingency plans if they were to lose their key men.

They are currently working on identifying replacements and are confident that they can sign one swiftly should the 25-year-old swap the Vitality Stadium for North London.

Will Tottenham break their transfer record to land Semenyo?

Spurs paid a club-record £65m to land Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth last summer and it appears they might have to break that to get Solanke’s former Cherries teammate through the door.

One does wonder if, for that kind of money, Tottenham may instead decide to focus on Eberechi Eze, who has a £60m release clause in his contract.
