Chris Sutton has made his prediction for Tottenham’s Premier League clash with Manchester United and the pundit has reservations about both teams.
Tottenham Hotspur are looking to return to winning form in the Premier League after an encouraging 4-0 win over Copenhagen in Europe.
Spurs might be getting results at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Champions League, but their home form in the English top flight is truly abysmal. Thomas Frank has gathered only four points from five matches in North London.
However, Manchester United have only picked up five points away from home and are less likely to perform on the road compared with Old Trafford.
Chris Sutton cannot see either Tottenham or Manchester United winning
How does one go about predicting a match when the hosts rarely win at home and the visitors secure very few victories away from their own ground? Well according to Chris Sutton, it is best to predict a draw.
The former Premier League striker is unsure of what to expect from Tottenham after a disappointing display last weekend and he has his doubts about the Red Devils too.
He told BBC Sport: “It’s hard to know how to view Tottenham at the moment, especially at home where they have been pretty underwhelming in the Premier League so far.
MORE SPURS STORIES
“Spurs have taken only one point from their past four league games in their own stadium since beating Burnley on the opening weekend of the season, including last week’s defeat by Chelsea when a couple of their players gave Thomas Frank the cold shoulder afterwards.
“They did beat Copenhagen comfortably there in the Champions League on Tuesday, but it is still hard to make a case for them to overcome Manchester United because I am not really sure where their goals are going to come from.
“Mind you, I am still not convinced by United either. There is no doubt they have shown strong signs of improvement but I still don’t fully trust them to turn up, especially on the road.
“Tottenham beat United four times last season, including in the Europa League final. This time? If I had to pick a winner I would actually back United, but I don’t – so I am going for a draw.”
Sutton’s prediction: Tottenham Hotspur 1-1 Manchester United
Spurs were Man United’s bogey team last season
Ange Postecoglou enjoyed facing Manchester United last season, defeating them four times across all competitions.
Frank will hope to continue this winning run, but Ruben Amroim’s team have looked much improved this season, especially with top scorer Bryan Mbeumo.
The Tottenham manager will look to his defenders to silence his former player at Brentford, which will be necessary if Spurs are to get something from the game.
