Cole Palmer has three goal contributions in his last two games against Tottenham Hotspur, as the Chelsea star looks to rekindle his form on Tuesday night.
A London derby with so much riding on it takes place at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday, as European-chasing Chelsea host survival-searching Tottenham.
Xabi Alonso has been appointed as the Blues’ new boss, giving the home side a potential ‘new manager bounce’ advantage going into the game.
However, the Spaniard won’t be in the dugout for the visit of Spurs, as he begins his role on 1 July, meaning it will be Roberto De Zerbi‘s side against Calum McFarlane’s.
Tottenham will secure their top-flight status if they beat Chelsea, but McFarlane’s men will be hoping to put an end to their own dismal run of form with a big home victory.

What is Cole Palmer’s career record against Tottenham?
Chelsea are strong favourites to beat Tottenham, despite the fact they’ve only won once in their last seven games in all competitions, losing five of those.
Regardless, Stamford Bridge is a notoriously tough place to go for any travelling side, and especially Spurs, who have only won once there in their last 20 visits.
One of Chelsea’s best and most influential players is Palmer, who has scored 13 goals and provided five assists in all competitions for them this season, which actually marks a notable drop in production based on his previous two Blues campaigns.
The England international hasn’t found the net, or indeed, provided a single goal contribution, in any of his last 11 appearances for Chelsea, which is a remarkably uncharacteristic run of form for his standards.
You can also extend this period of time without a goal contribution by a further two games if you include his England outings back in March, where he drew blanks against Uruguay and Japan respectively.
As such, many Tottenham fans will be getting their hopes up that their side are going up against him at the best possible time, but you could also say that he’s well overdue his next goal contribution of any kind.
And, if there was one team he would want to face in order to get back amongst the goals, it would probably be Spurs, as detailed via Transfermarkt.
That’s because in the four career Premier League games he’s played against the Lilywhites, Palmer has scored three times and provided two assists, whilst being on the winning side all four times too.
Only one of those three matches saw him fail to score a goal or provide an assist, and that was in Chelsea’s 2-0 victory back on 2 May, 2024.
Destiny Udogie may have timed Palmer test to perfection
With Palmer likely to be deployed on the right, that would set up a battle with Tottenham left-back Destiny Udogie.
The 23-year-old Italian international cuts a divisive figure in N17, with his talent and potential clear to see, but inconsistent performances and injury problems limiting his Spurs progress.
But, he is in good form at the moment, with encouraging displays against Aston Villa and Leeds United respectively in his last two.
Shutting down a player of Palmer’s quality could go a long way to securing his future under De Zerbi, and judging by the Englishman’s record against Spurs, a considerable distance towards a Lilywhites result too.
