Danny Rohl says Rangers are in talks with Tottenham Hotspur over extending Mikey Moore’s stay at Ibrox following the winger’s man-of-the-match display in their 4-1 victory over Aberdeen.
Moore was the star of the show as Rangers returned to winning ways in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday, scoring their second goal with a terrific finish.
The 18-year-old received a standing ovation from the Ibrox crowd when he was eventually substituted by Rohl late on.
The German manager was asked about Moore’s future in his post-match press conference and had some positive indications to share.
Rangers Want to Keep Mikey Moore
Rohl was questioned about Rangers supporters wanting Moore to stay beyond this season and revealed the club are in ongoing conversations over the 18-year-old’s future at Ibrox:
“I think conversations are always there, but we know when Mikey performed like this, you can see Mikey enjoys playing for Rangers. The fans love him, I like him, he's a key player.
“I think there's a lot of good things where we could go again together, but we know he's still not our player, let's work in the next couple of weeks in all those directions.”
Moore scored his sixth goal of the Premiership campaign on Saturday, his third in the last seven games.
The ‘brilliant’ 18-year-old forward has been heavily trusted by Rohl in recent weeks, starting all of Rangers’ last seven league matches and helping them maintain their unbeaten run.
The Ibrox side last lost a league game in December, when they fell 2-1 to league leaders Hearts, who remain top of the table following Saturday’s action.
Three points off the top, Rangers face Dundee United at home after the international break on Saturday 4 April.
Rangers Keen on Elijah Just
Amid their ongoing battle for the Premiership title, Rangers are already planning for next season and have earmarked Motherwell playmaker Elijah Just as a potential target.
The Ibrox side are considering a summer pursuit of the New Zealand star following his impressive league campaign under manager Jens Berthen Askou.
Just has been one of the driving forces behind Motherwell’s strong season, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists in 28 league appearances.
