Everton have already been hit with a number of upsets in this summer’s transfer window.
David Moyes will not be looking for any excuses now as he will want to see new faces land on Merseyside ahead of pre-season.
Fortunately, it looks as if Everton are set to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal, with the deal progressing well over recent days.
But that is just one of many positions that are going to need addressing over the coming weeks at Everton.
Moyes has been keen to sign a new full-back ever since he returned to Everton in January, and there have been a number of players of interest already.
It now looks as if Everton could be about to land another signing this summer, and they’ll be beating some stern competition to his signature.
Everton set to beat Tottenham Hotspur to Wesley Franca
Everton were snubbed by Kenny Tete, who decided to stay with Fulham despite having a solid offer on the table from the Blues.
It has not taken Angus Kinnear long to find an alternative option, though.
MORE EVERTON STORIES
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Everton are working on a £26m deal to sign Wesley Franca from Flamengo.
The Brazilian has received interest already from the likes of Tottenham Hotspur, but it is the Toffees who are making progress on a potential deal.
There is one twist, however, as Everton could initially send Franca off to AS Roma for a season-long loan deal if they do land him.
Everton lost Ashley Young this summer as a free agent and are in need of some extra quality being added at full-back.
So, it is slightly strange to hear of the initial plans being put in place for Franca to not actually play for Everton until 2026/27.
Everton need another right-back signing
As things stand, Everton will be going into the new campaign with Jake O’Brien as their starting right-back.
Many fans will be fine with that as O’Brien really impressed for Everton under Moyes after being given an opportunity.
The Ireland international does have his attacking limitations, but it is the options supporting him which will be of concern.
Although Franca is only 21-years-old and has a bright future ahead of him, Moyes and the Everton fans will surely want to signings made for the present.
