Tottenham Hotspur have moved a step closer to announcing Ange Postecoglou's replacement in the dugout as first-choice candidate Thomas Frank has confirmed that he wants to leave Premier League rivals Brentford to take over at Hotspur Way ahead of next season, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although Spurs ended their 17-year wait for silverware last month, with Brennan Johnson grabbing the winner in the Europa League final against Manchester United, chairman Daniel Levy and other members of the hierarchy decided it was the right time to make an alteration at the helm.

Greek-Australian tactician Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham last week, leading to influential figures behind the scenes looking to identify his successor, and the north Londoners are edging towards handing Frank the managerial reins as they aim to build on adding to the trophy cabinet.

Frank Keen to be Appointed Spurs' Next Boss

Dane held multiple meetings with Levy before Postecoglou left

Frank has verbally agreed terms to become Tottenham's new manager, according to GMS sources, and he has made it clear to current employers Brentford that he wants to leave the Gtech Community Stadium in order to take advantage of the opportunity to replace Postecoglou.

But Spurs will have to put a lucrative compensation package on the table in order to persuade their London neighbours to give the Dane the green light to embark on a fresh challenge in his managerial career as the Bees are demanding £10million after he has been the subject of serious interest.

GMS sources have been informed that Frank was quickly pinpointed as Tottenham's primary option after multiple meetings took place with Levy before Postecoglou was officially relieved of his duties, while he has also proven that he has what it takes to succeed in the Premier League thanks to his fruitful reign at Brentford.

The 51-year-old will become one of the most expensive bosses in Premier League history if Spurs opt to meet the financial expectations of Gtech Community Stadium chiefs in the coming days, but an agreement has not been reached at this stage and further negotiations need to take place.

Brentford's insistence to hold out for the entirety of Frank's buyout clause is one of two stumbling blocks remaining for Tottenham, GMS sources have learned, along with discussing the figure it would take to ensure members of his backroom staff follow in his footsteps to north London in preparation for next season.

Frank Boasts Existing Relationship with Lange

Tactician will be handed chance to bring in his own coaching staff

GMS sources have been told that Tottenham technical director Johan Lange is leading the process to appoint Postecoglou's successor and already has an existing relationship with Frank thanks to knowing him from his time at Lyngby, leading to there being a desire to lure him away from Brentford.

Even though the likes of Andoni Iraola have been on Spurs' radar as a potential option, having seen him spearhead Bournemouth to within touching distance of the European qualification places during the 2024/25 campaign, they have decided that they want to raid the Bees as they ready themselves for a season which will include Champions League action.

Postecoglou's assistant coaches Mile Jedinak, Nick Montgomery and Sergio Raimundo have already left Tottenham since his departure, GMS sources understand, resulting in there being an opportunity for Frank to bring in his own staff and guide the north Londoners into a new era.

GMS sources recently revealed that the top managerial target has already given the green light for Spurs to attempt to sign Eberechi Eze from Crystal Palace if it becomes clear that members of the recruitment department will be unable to hijack Brentford talisman Bryan Mbeumo's switch to Manchester United.
