Tottenham Hotspur are at risk of missing out on signing Antoine Semenyo as domestic counterparts Bournemouth will not entertain sanctioning a move to Hotspur Way if they see further key members of their squad head through the exit door in the coming weeks, GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed.

Although boss Ange Postecoglou succeeded in ending Spurs' 17-year wait for silverware, thanks to overcoming Manchester United in the Europa League final last month, plans have been put in place to bolster the north Londoners' attacking options as preparations are made for next season.

Kevin Danso has become a permanent acquisition, with the central defender completing a £21million switch after there was an obligation to buy him at the end of an initial loan spell from Lens, but Tottenham are in the market for additional firepower and creativity as they aim to build on adding to the trophy cabinet.

Spurs' Rivals Could Scupper Semenyo Swoop

Ghana international unlikely to make switch if teammate departs

Tottenham are in danger of their move for Semenyo being blocked, according to GMS sources, as Bournemouth are desperate to avoid a situation where a host of regular starters head through the exit door after central defender Dean Huijsen has already completed a switch to La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid.

The Cherries have slapped a £75million price tag on their wide forward, having been alerted to Spurs and other sides circling for his signature, and that has complicated matters for Postecoglou and members of the recruitment target as they seek ways to become more of a threat in the final third of the pitch.

GMS sources have been informed that Tottenham have identified Semenyo as a high-profile target after he enjoyed a productive campaign, but their hopes of striking a deal could be scuppered by London rivals West Ham United as they have joined Newcastle United in chasing Marcus Tavernier.

Although the 25-year-old has been described as 'unbelievable' by Spurs icon Dimitar Berbatov, it has become clear that he may be forced to remain at the Vitality Stadium instead of being given the green light to head to the capital if offers are accepted for a number of his teammates in the meantime.

Bournemouth are not willing to leave their squad decimated after enjoying a season which saw them challenging for European qualification, GMS sources have learned, meaning that Tottenham's desire to land Semenyo could be in jeopardy if West Ham or Newcastle can quickly tie up a deal for Tavernier.

Semenyo on Radar Amid Postecoglou Doubts

North Londoners may be under new management next season

GMS sources have been told that Tottenham have Semenyo firmly on their radar as a potential recruit as they prepare to return to the Champions League, even though there is still no clarity over whether Postecoglou will remain in charge despite bringing the north Londoners' trophy drought to an end.

But Bournemouth are in a strong negotiating position thanks to the Ghana international still having four years remaining on a contract which allows him to pocket £50,000-per-week, meaning they are under no pressure to cash in and they will not entertain significantly lowering their valuation during the transfer window.

Huijsen's departure and the expectation of Milos Kerkez joining Liverpool have resulted in the Cherries aiming to hold onto Illia Zabarnyi, GMS sources understand, while they will be on course to retain Semenyo's services if fellow attacking influence Tavernier embarks on a fresh challenge in the coming weeks.

GMS sources recently revealed that Spurs are already in line to miss out on recruiting Hugo Larsson from Eintracht Frankfurt, thanks to them being unable to convince Sunderland midfielder Jobe Bellingham to replace him, and the north Londoners are at risk of being forced to contend with another setback.
