It feels a little bit like one step forward, two steps back for Thomas Frank at Tottenham Hotspur, who is back under scrutiny in north London.

The pressure eased on Frank somewhat during the week when Spurs produced a slick display in the UEFA Champions League to beat Bundesliga high-flyers Borussia Dortmund.

That victory put them fourth in the Champions League league phase table and secured at least a knockout play-off clash. But while things are going well in Europe, the same cannot be said for Tottenham's league form, which continues to stutter.

Frank Sends Message to Tottenham Fans

Spurs were 13 points clear of the Premier League relegation zone little over a week ago, now that gap is down to just eight following defeat to West Ham and Saturday's draw with Burnley - two teams in that relegation zone.

Speculation around Frank's future has been rife for much of the season, with Spurs regularly booed off the pitch following performances in the Premier League.

Matches at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium have also failed to hit capacity as supporters have voted with their feet. Fans were heard chanting 'we want Frank out' and 'you're getting sacked in the morning' during the game at Turf Moor.

Frank delivered a message to the fans in his post-match press conference. He said: "I think the message to the fans, as I've said the whole time, is that we're working very hard to make sure everything is going in the right direction and we'll keep doing that."

Thomas Frank Back At Risk

Tottenham face Eintracht Frankfurt away in Germany on Wednesday in their final Champions League clash to try and secure a top eight to automatically qualify for the last 16 and avoid the need for a play-off match. The likelihood is that Frank will remain in charge for that, but the result at Burnley has caused further doubt.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano delivered an update on the Tottenham boss' future.

He said: "For sure it's a complicated situation for Thomas Frank after the win against Borussia Dortmund to soften the pressure during the week, he's now back at risk, so let's see what's going to happen for the future of Thomas Frank.

"Of course it's going to be a busy, busy week - the last week of the transfer window and Tottenham to decide on their manager and many things to assess."

The Managers Who Could Replace Frank

Spurs have been linked with a number of managers in the past few weeks, with the likes of Xabi Alonso and Xavi being mentioned. Oliver Glasner was talked about as a potential replacement, following his Crystal Palace outburst, although the Eagles now expect the Austrian to see out his contract until the end of the season.

At the end of the 2025/26 campaign, Spurs will potentially have their pick of managers, with Andoni Iraola, Mauricio Pochettino and Thomas Tuchel, as well as Glasner, all out of contract.
