Tottenham are closing in on appointing Brentford boss Thomas Frank as their new manager, journalist Fabrizio Romano has revealed.

The Europa League winners are reportedly in the final stages of negotiations with the Danish tactician, who is expected to arrive as Ange Postecoglou’s successor this summer.

Frank is now set to end his seven-year spell with Brentford and take on a new challenge, having guided the Bees to a 10th-place Premier League finish last season.

The 51-year-old is believed to have a £10m release clause written into his contract, which Brentford are reportedly demanding be paid in full.

Tottenham had been considering managerial options ever since Postecoglou guided them to a Europa League victory last month, before announcing the Australian's sacking last week.

Postecoglou departed North London following Spurs' dismal domestic campaign, which saw them finish just 17th in the league – their lowest Premier League finish ever.

The Lilywhites recorded just 11 wins and a worrying 22 defeats, and ended the top-flight campaign on a seven-game winless streak.

Frank is now expected to become the fourth permanent Tottenham manager in as many years, with his arrival reportedly highly favoured by technical director Johan Lange.

The pair previously shared an office at Danish club Lyngby and are believed to have maintained a close relationship since.

Frank is expected to bring a number of his Brentford backroom staff with him, after three assistant coaches followed Postecoglou through the exit door last week.

The 51-year-old tactician, who joined the Bees in October 2018, guided them to two top-half Premier League finishes in the last three seasons.
