Mick Brown, who worked as a scout at Tottenham for over ten years and remains well-connected with many people at Hotspur Way, has now revealed where Thomas Frank stands regarding the North London club’s interest in Kyle Walker-Peters.
It is no secret that Tottenham are short of homegrown and club-trained players at the moment and that is something that the club will be keen to fix ahead of their return to the Champions League.
It emerged a few days ago that in an attempt to add to those numbers, Spurs are eyeing a move to re-sign Walker-Peters, who is available on a free transfer after his contract at Southampton ran out.
Many Tottenham fans are unconvinced about a move for Walker-Peters, with some feeling that the club need to target players of a higher calibre to compete in the Premier League and the Champions League.
Thomas Frank has approved Tottenham’s move for Kyle Walker-Peters
Mick Brown believes that despite the lack of enthusiasm from Spurs fans, the 28-year-old is the kind of signing the Lilywhites need to make this summer to add to their club-trained numbers.
He also revealed that Thomas Frank has assessed various full-back targets and approved a move for the England international, and added that the North Londoners will soon make contact with the player’s entourage.
Brown told Football Insider: “Kyle Walker-Peters was one of Southampton’s better players this season. It’s no surprise clubs are looking at him on a free transfer because he’s still a Premier League-level player who would add something to a number of sides.

“Tottenham know all there is to know about him, they’ve been keeping a close eye on him. Obviously, he’s an academy product and all of the clubs in Europe need to have those in their squad.
“Thomas Frank will have made an assessment of his current options at full-back and he feels Walker-Peters would be an upgrade on what he’s got.
“On a free transfer, I hear they’re going to look into it because it’s a good opportunity. They will be speaking to his agent about what his demands are in terms of playing time and wages.”
Spurs face competition for Walker-Peters
It was previously revealed by Alasdair Gold that Everton and Wolves are ready to challenge Spurs for Walker-Peters, but the journalist claimed that the Spurs academy graduate would be in favour of a return to N17.
This has now been backed up by Brown, who suggested that Spurs may be the ‘best option’ for the full-back among all of his suitors.
Brown added: “They (Tottenham) won’t be the only ones (who make a move for Walker-Peters). All the interested clubs will make contact with his agent if they haven’t already to see what it would take. Tottenham would probably be his best option, but it will come down to what he wants to do.”
