There is a new leading contender to replace Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham Hotspur this summer after Fabio Paratici recommended the hiring of a young Italian coach to Daniel Levy.

A managerial change seems highly likely at Tottenham this summer, no matter what happens in the Europa League final. Just a couple of days ago, David Ornstein became the latest journalist to suggest that Postecoglou will be let go by Spurs irrespective of what happens at Bilbao.

Over the past couple of months, a whole host of managers across the Premier League and Europa have been linked with the Tottenham job, and there appears to be very little clarity on who the favourite is at the moment.

According to a new update, an unlikely favourite has now emerged to replace Postecoglou in the Spurs hotseat after Paratici put forward a new name to the club’s hierarchy.

Tottenham now plotting a move for Francesco Farioli

TEAMtalk now say that Tottenham Hotspur have not made a final decision on Postecoglou’s future, but they have already started looking for his replacement, which is perhaps an indication that the Australian’s days at the club are numbered.

Interestingly, the outlet asserts that Ajax boss Francesco Farioli has now moved to the top of Tottenham’s wishlist ahead of the summer.

The report claims that the 36-year-old is now viewed as the ‘ideal’ candidate to replace Postecoglou by the North London side.

Farioli is now said to be a ‘serious name’ being discussed by the decision makers at Hotspur Way, with the €5m (£4.2 m) release clause in his Ajax contract making him an affordable option.

Tottenham are not put off by Francesco Farioli despite Ajax’s recent collapse

Farioli left Nice to sign for the Amsterdam club last summer, and he had a huge impact initially, with Ajax sitting nine points clear at the top of the Eredivisie table in mid-April.

However, since then, the Dutch giants have had a major collapse and they are now a point behind a point behind leaders PSV Eindhoven with just one league game left.

Even though Ajax look set to miss out on the title in what will be one of the most dramatic turnarounds in history, that has allegedly not put off Tottenham from pursuing Farioli.
