Thomas Frank is hoping to influence Daniel Levy’s approach to transfers at Tottenham.
Levy has been criticised for focusing too heavily on the value of the deal rather than the profile of the player needed at Tottenham during his near-quarter-century reign as chairman in North London.
Infamously, this has led to players like Djed Spence being signed in 2022 without the expressed desire of manager Antonio Conte at the time.
The 63-year-old was also late to understanding the importance of data analysis, which Frank and his compatriot Johan Lange are far better versed in.
The Danish manager is hopeful that he can change Levy’s way of operating, and is understood to have already identified his first desired signing.

Tottenham target Arnaud Kalimuendo
With Richarlison on the verge of leaving Spurs, Frank appears to have focused his initial efforts on finding a striker to replace the outgoing Brazilian.
As reported by Loic Tanzi (16 June), Tottenham have accelerated talks for Arnaud Kalimuendo from Rennes and have entered discussions to sign the Paris Saint-Germain academy product.
The Under-23 France international enjoyed his best return for the Red and Blacks last season, establishing himself as one of Ligue 1’s top strikers.
And ex-Spurs scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Frank is the driving force behind the interest in the goalscorer due to the timing of these reports.
“This sounds like it could be an interesting player,” King said.
“If these reports have come out in the last few days, I’d imagine that Frank is behind this. He’s just joined the club, so he must know the player and have requested that Levy sign him.
“This player is still only 23 years old, but he also only has two years left on his contract. Therefore, I’d imagine that a transfer fee of around £30m will be needed.
“This could open the door for Richarlison to leave, but I think that door has been open for a while.”
Tottenham are desperately in need of a poacher
Spurs are blessed with a litter of talented attacking players, all with excellent creative abilities, but who offer varying degrees of goal threats.
It is telling that since Harry Kane’s departure, it hasn’t been the striker who has finished top scorer, but rather Son Heung-min, followed by Brennan Johnson last season.
Tottenham lack a clinical number nine with a poacher’s instinct to get on the end of the numerous chances the team creates.
They will hope Kalimuendo’s goalscoring prowess could solve that issue should he sign for the North Londoners.
