Tottenham Hotspur target Savinho will not be moving to North London this summer, according to talkSPORT.
Spurs wanted the Manchester City winger and were in talks to sign him.
However, Tottenham will not be getting the 21-year-old because Man City boss Pep Guardiola has closed the door to a potential departure.
The Brazilian winger, who impressed in his first Premier League season with Manchester City, had been linked with a £50 million move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Missing out on Savinho is a blow for Tottenham, considering how good the ex-Girona star is.
In 29 league appearances last season, Savinho showed why he is considered one of the most exciting young wingers in Europe.
Hailed by Guardiola as a player with ‘incredible ability’, he averaged 0.5 assists per 90 minutes and created 2.3 chances per 90.
His numbers far outshine most of Tottenham’s current wide options.
His ability to take on defenders was particularly impressive, completing 2.7 take-ons per 90 – a level of directness Spurs have often lacked.
Who should Spurs turn to after missing out on Savinho
Tottenham should turn their attention to Takefusa Kubo after missing out on Savinho.
The Japanese international has been one of La Liga’s most exciting wide forwards since joining Real Sociedad in July 2022, tormenting defenders with his pace, flair, and close control.
At 24, Kubo is entering his prime and offers the kind of direct dribbling and creativity Spurs need to replace the spark Savinho could have provided.
Last season, he recorded seven goals and four assists in 52 appearances across all competitions, while already opening his account this campaign.
Kubo’s versatility and ability to break down low blocks make him an ideal target to refresh the forward line.
