Tottenham Hotspur have reached a verbal agreement with Manchester City to sign Savinho in a deal worth in excess of £75m, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Spurs have had a strong interest in the Brazil winger for well over 12 months after trying to sign him last summer, before City decided against allowing him to move on and tied him down to a new long-term contract.

But after a season of struggling to feature regularly in the first team under Pep Guardiola, the north London club has now pushed to get a deal done, and an agreement has finally been reached to add him to Roberto De Zerbi's squad.

According to a report by the ever-reliable Romano, the two clubs have now reached a verbal agreement for a deal worth more than £75m, and the player is set to travel for a medical with Spurs ahead of the season opener this weekend.

The club are also understood to be pushing for a move for Savinho's City teammate Omar Marmoush in a double deal, but Romano states that talks over a move for the Egypt international are separate currently and are still ongoing.

Savinho had already made it clear to City that he wanted to leave in search of more regular first-team football, and he has now been given the green light to make that wish come true.

Tottenham have had a very busy summer window already, bringing in Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, Jan Paul van Hecke, Mateus Fernandes, and Sandro Tonali, but the manager is desperate to add to his attack with at least three signings.

Alongside Savinho and Marmoush, the club are also looking at a deal for Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo, while Pedro Neto has also been linked, although it's understood that he was seen as an alternative to the Brazilian.

Spurs Signing an 'Extraordinary' Star

Savinho was on the brink of making this move last year, which only stopped because then-manager Guardiola stepped in to block the deal, hoping he could draw out the potential of the young winger.

After he made the decision, he spoke to the press, calling the 22-year-old 'extraordinary'.

"I am only concerned right now that Savinho will be with us for the rest of the season and hopefully many years, because of the potential he has at 21. He has to improve in final positions but he is an extraordinary player."

New manager Enzo Maresca is clearly not as fussed about keeping hold of him this summer, and Spurs have now got their man ahead of their Premier League opener against Newcastle on Sunday afternoon.
