Good morning everyone and welcome to the latest edition of the EFL Championship roundup!
It’s been a long time since we last checked in on all things happening in the second tier. This edition marks the first time that West Ham are featured here (lol).
We’ll have a full preview on the season in the coming week or two, but first I want to do a short roundup on some notable transfers that have happened in the last month:
Sebastian Berhalter from Vancouver Whitecaps to Middlesrough (undisclosed): The whole Berhalter thing was an interesting subplot in the World Cup, so I’ll be curious to see what happens at Boro.
Paul Mullin from Wrexham to Rotherham (Free): Wrexham’s legendary striker is gone for good. But wow what a legacy he leaves.
Luis Vazquez from Anderlecht to Birmingham City (undisclosed): Needless to say it was a disappointing season for Birmingham. The playoffs are a minimum now, especially with the expanded format.
Crysencio Summerville from West Ham to Al Hilal: Lol remember how he didn’t wanna join Spurs? Who cares where he goes. I’m just glad West Ham are in the Championship
Elijah Just from Motherwell to Swansea (undisclosed): This is an interesting one. Elijah Just looked really good in the World Cup, and this is a big step up for him.
Tariq Lamptey from Fiorentina to QPR (undisclosed): Goodness, remember Tariq Lamptey? He now seems destined for midtable mediocrity.
Matt Doherty from Wolves to Sheffield United (free): A good deal of experience for Sheffield United as they push for the playoffs.
Harry Winks from Leicester to Cagliari (undisclosed): Listen, can we not? Please?
Alfie Devine from Spurs to Preston NE (undisclosed): This was a great deal for Preston North End. The big question is now what else will they do. Build around him and they can push for top eight. Otherwise, it’s a waste of everyone’s time.
Mateus Fernandes Fernandes from West Ham to Spurs (85m): Another one gone for West Ham. But, oh look! He’s at Spurs now. Huzzah!
