Newcastle United sold Sandro Tonali to Tottenham Hotspur for £100million in the summer.

Former Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali insists his £100million price tag ‘doesn’t bother’ him.

Tonali became Tottenham Hotspur’s record signing in the summer after joining from Newcastle, and their poor start to the new Premier League campaign has seen the Italian come under fire.

Sandro Tonali on his price tag & fitness after £100m NUFC exit

The 26-year-old had a slight injury over the summer, which he says has impacted his form. Now declaring himself “100%” fit, Tonali is “ready” to help Tottenham climb the table.

"It doesn't bother me,” Tonali said on his price tag, as quoted by Calciomercato. “I haven't followed social media or newspapers in years, and that makes me feel really light-hearted.”

"Physically, I'm 100% now,” he added. “The pain I was having has resolved. I'm ready to do my part.

“It doesn't matter if I play as a midfielder or a playmaker, especially since the roles can vary depending on the match. Sometimes one role is better, sometimes another. The important thing is to have a great game.

"Football is very strange. In 10 days, everything can change from negative to positive. I would classify our current situation as a club as negative in terms of results but positive for football. We're having fun and creating chances. If you don't score in football, you lose.

"We're not in the doldrums. We're alive and well, and we're positive. We know the team is very strong. Here in the national team, it's different. It's a very new and young group; we've practically never played together. We just have to wait."

In an interview before his reunion with Newcastle, Tonali said he wanted “the best deal” for the club “because they deserve everything” after supporting him through his 10-month betting ban.

The Magpies used the money to sign three new central midfielders, bringing in Nico Gonzalez, Sean Steur and Aladji Bamba from Manchester City, Ajax and Monaco, respectively, for a combined £103million.
