Tottenham have been linked with a number of names to become their new manager after Thomas Frank was sacked on Wednesday, but one that has not been mentioned as much, having been in the frame previously when the job has been available, is Edin Terzic.

The 43-year-old German has been out of work since 2024, leaving Borussia Dortmund following their UEFA Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

It was an unexpected appearance in the final for Terzic and Dortmund, who had beaten PSV, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain in the knockouts on the run to the final.

Why Terzic Decided to Leave Borussia Dortmund

Terzic asked to leave the club, penning an emotional statement which said: "Even though it really hurts, I want to inform you that I will leave BVB today.

“It was a huge honour to lead this club to a DFB Cup final and recently a Champions League final. After our final at Wembley, I asked the club bosses for a talk because I’ve been at BVB for over ten years now, with five as a coach and two-and-a-half as head coach.

“I have the feeling that our new beginning should also come with someone new on the touchline."

Terzic has been linked with the Tottenham job in the past and now the Lilywhites are on the lookout for another permanent new manager, the German is once again in the frame, albeit as a 33/1 outsider with bookmakers.

Terzic Has Turned Down Big Jobs But Now Wants Tottenham Talks

According to the Telegraph, Terzic has turned down a number of job offers since leaving Dortmund in 2024 as he is keen on a job in the Premier League.

The Telegraph state that Terzic would be interested in the Spurs post, but, as yet, he has not been approached by the club to replace Frank at the helm.

Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke described Terzic as "incredible" just before that Champions League final, offering an insight into what he is like on the training ground and how he would work with the Tottenham players if he was brought in.

He said: "It's incredible what Edin has achieved. Last year we were a whisker away from the Bundesliga title. Now we're going to Wembley, in the Champions League final. What more do you want in two and a half years?

"Edin is someone who works meticulously and extremely hard for the club. As a coach, it's a bit more difficult to get to the final with BVB than with Paris. That's absolutely clear. But he did it. It's a great achievement."

Two Names Stand Out Above The Rest For Tottenham Job

Frank was sacked on Wednesday just eight months after being handed the reins following Ange Postecoglou's sacking. The Dane is understood to have lost the backing of several senior Spurs players.

Tottenham have yet to make a decision on whether they appoint a permanent successor to Frank now, or if they bring someone in on an interim basis, as Manchester United have done with Michael Carrick, to wait to make a decision on a permanent boss in the summer.
