Tottenham are keen to reignite their interest in signing Maghnes Akliouche in January, according to reports from the Daily Mail.

Spurs are desperate to strengthen their squad following a disappointing start to life under Thomas Frank in North London.

Despite finishing 17th last term, expectations were high for Tottenham after winning the Europa League last term. However, this season has been a struggle, with Frank's side sitting 13th in the Premier League.

A series of injuries to key offensive players including James Maddison, Dominic Solanke, Dejan Kulusevski have left them light in the final third and as a result, they're keen to add genuine quality in a bid to add some extra sparkle into a side who have struggled at times this term.

With the search underway for creativity, Tottenham are considering a move for a player whom they have admired for some time.

Tottenham Chase Maghnes Akilouche

Tottenham are interested in a move to sign Maghnes Akliouche of Monaco. The versatile attacking midfielder was a target for the club in the summer, signaling that he is hight up the club's wishlist.

So far this season, the 23-year-old has scored three goals and provided five assists for the French side in 22 appearances. Since progressing through the club's youth set up, he has 41 goal contributions in 118 games. He has also scored once in five senior appearances for France's national team.

The report also states that Spurs are interested in RB Leipzig’s teenage winger Yan Diomande, Kenan Yildiz of Juventus and Man City star Savinho.

Akilouche Could Be Brennan Johnson Upgrade

While Akilouche is just one of a number of targets being considered, Spurs are keen to strengthen this area after making a decision on Brennan Johnson's future. Totteham have accepted a £35million offer from Crystal Palace for the wide forward witth the decision now up to the player to decide where his future lies.

Described as having "a left foot made of gold", Akilouche would bring real quality to Tottenham's attacking line. His pace, trickery and flair make him a real handful and someone that would undoubtedly flourish under Thomas Frank.

Spurs have lacked that spark this season and if they can find it in January, it could do them the world of good. Securing European football is a must for Frank's side and if they can complete this deal, it could really aid their push.
