Tottenham have been given the opportunity to sign Juventus forward in exchange for their two stars.
With the summer transfer window approaching, Tottenham Hotspur have hit the ground running in the market as they look to strengthen their squad. Following confirmation of their Premier League status, they have wrapped up potential deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi, subject to confirmation at the end of the month.
With Cristian Romero and Radu Dragusin linked with an exit from the club, the North Londoners are prioritising defensive reinforcements. Tottenham have seen their opening bid for Brighton and Hove Albion defender Jan Paul van Hecke rejected. This shows they remain interested to adding to their central defensive unit further after agreeing a deal with Senesi.
The Spurs bosses also have work to do to bolster their forward department. Dominic Solanke missed hefty chunks of the past campaign following an ankle surgery, while Randal Kolo Muani will return to PSG after enduring a poor loan spell. Richarlison ended the campaign as the top scorer with 12 goals, but it is clear by now that he cannot be relied upon to find the back of the net consistently.
Tottenham offered Jonathan David but Juventus want two players in return
This makes it essential for the club chiefs to bring in a quality No.9 to lead Tottenham’s attack next season. And it looks like they might have been given an opportunity to land one.
According to Italian outlet TuttoJuve, Juventus have offered Tottenham Jonathan David but wants Guglielmo Vicario and Destiny Udogie in return.
Jonathan David has failed to make his mark in his first season in Italy after arriving on a free transfer from LOSC Lille. The 26-year-old netted just six goals in 35 Serie A appearances, and after just one season, Juventus are ready to give up on him. It is worth noting that before the Canadian international moved to Juventus last summer, he was wanted by Tottenham.
Perhaps the Turin giants feel Spurs have maintained their interest in Jonathan David and will be ready to sign him if given an opportunity. However, they’d only be willing to part ways with David if the Lilywhites include Vicario and Udogie in a swap deal. Vicario has recently emerged on Juve’s radar as they search for a new No.1, while Udogie is viewed as a potential replacement for Andrea Cambiaso. Both Tottenham stars will add value to Luciano Spalletti’s squad, whilst adding to the squad’s Italian contingent.
It does not look like the North Londoners will be ready to engage in such a swap deal. Signing David in exchange for both Udogie and Vicario makes no sense. If Juve decides to propose a swap deal involving only David and Vicario, then that might interest Tottenham, as they want to offload the Italian international this summer.
