Thomas Frank is already facing an uphill battle at Tottenham thanks to Daniel Levy.

The appointment of Frank divided opinion, partly because many did not want to see Ange Postecoglou sacked, but there were also questions about the Dane’s ability to manage a bigger club.

And it seems as though Frank isn’t going to get much help proving his doubters wrong after recent transfer developments at Tottenham.

Levy is setting Frank up to fail with inexperienced transfers

Tottenham have planned to send shockwaves throughout the summer transfer window, but it seems those waves may end up petering out as soon as they arrive.

The Lilywhites have already been linked with several players.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Jarrad Branthwaite is an option to replace Cristian Romero, who is expected to join Atletico Madrid.

Meanwhile, according to Ben Jacobs, who was speaking via The Last Word on Spurs (14 June), Tottenham are also interested in Ajax defender Jorrell Hato.

The North London side are also planning to raid Brentford and have made midfielder Yehor Yarmolyuk a potential transfer target [CaughtOffside].

Middlesbrough midfielder Hayden Hackney has also made the list, while Luka Vuskovic will join Tottenham this summer after a two-year wait.

Meanwhile, Mathys Tel has been signed on a permanent transfer from Bayern Munich after a successful loan spell.

Levy has outdone himself with scouting possible transfers for the future. However, therein lies the problem: the chairman is hoping these youngsters will one day become world-class players.

It is not guaranteed that they will live up to their potential, nor does it help Frank to compete at the highest level now.

Tottenham will need experienced players to perform in the UEFA Champions League and to secure a spot in Europe the following season. Therefore, Levy will set Frank up for failure if he does not alter his transfer plans.

Levy needs to back Frank if he is to succeed at Tottenham

If Levy does not want a repeat of the most recent Premier League season, which cost Postecoglou his job and the 63-year-old a lot of money, he will need to back Frank in the summer transfer window.

The chairman seems to have started on the right path. Tottenham extended Tel and are accelerating their interest in Bryan Mbeumo to appease their new coach.

However, Tottenham need to ensure they are adding experience to the squad; otherwise, Frank is destined to fail.
