Tottenham Hotspur are preparing for a ‘big’ summer transfer window as they aim to improve their underperforming squad and fight for the top spots in the Premier League, journalist George Sessions has exclusively revealed on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast.

The north London club have welcomed former Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher as their first signing of the January market, and the 25-year-old’s arrival is claimed to be a sign of things to come for Spurs ahead of the summer.

According to Sessions, the Lewis family are hoping that Gallagher’s deal will mark a new era at the club, as he is the first signing since Daniel Levy’s departure earlier this season.

Spurs’ majority owners are reportedly preparing for a significant summer in terms of signings as they look to upturn their form over the last 18 months, with the club lingering in the bottom half of the league table.

Tottenham Ready for ‘Big’ Summer Window

Sessions, speaking on GIVEMESPORT’s Market Madness podcast, revealed that Tottenham are anticipating a busy summer transfer window as they aim to compete for honours regularly:

“I think Tottenham and the board, especially the Lewis family, will kind of hope that actually this Conor Gallagher signing is the start of the new era.

“He's the first signing since Daniel Levy’s left. They don't want Tottenham to be bottom half of the table. They want them to be pushing for honours regularly. We've heard that from people close to the family.

“So they were hoping, six months time, that Tottenham are ready to really have a big summer in terms of signing players and go again next season and be really in the mix, not necessarily for the title, but to be really in that Champions League conversation.”

Spurs have won just seven of their 21 league games under manager Thomas Frank this season and currently sit 14th in the table, seven points off the top four.

Since the start of November, the Lilywhites have secured just four wins across all competitions, beating Copenhagen, Brentford, Slavia Prague and Crystal Palace.

Spurs have dealt with a host of injury issues this term, with Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison yet to feature, while Mohammed Kudus, Destiny Udogie, Richarlison, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Bergvall are also currently sidelined.

The north London side are also anticipated to announce the arrival of Santos left-back Souza this week after agreeing a deal worth around £13m for the 19-year-old.

Tottenham Tried to Sign Yan Diomande

Amid their emerging plans for a significant summer transfer window, Tottenham have attempted to sign highly promising RB Leipzig forward Yan Diomande this month.

According to GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Fabrizio Romano, the Lilywhites saw their efforts rebuffed by the Bundesliga side, as Leipzig have no intention of selling Diomande this month.

The 19-year-old has been in electric form in Germany this term, scoring six goals and providing three assists in 15 league appearances.

Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich are also interested in signing the forward, whose contract with Leipzig runs until June 2030.
