Luka Vuskovic has suggested he will return to Tottenham Hotspur next season, once his loan at Bundesliga side Hamburg finishes.
The 19-year-old defender has recently been linked with a move away from the north London club following his promising performances in Germany.
Vuskovic has been instrumental in Hamburg’s survival push this season, scoring five goals in 25 top-flight appearances, all of which were starts.
Tottenham pre-agreed a deal to sign Vuskovic from Dinamo Zagreb in 2023, with the 19-year-old penning a contract until 2030 upon his arrival last summer.
Luka Vuskovic Eyeing Tottenham Return
In an interview with German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, Vuskovic provided an update on his future amid recent links with Bayern Munich and other top European sides.
The 19-year-old claimed it would be a ‘dream’ to play alongside his brother, Mario, but suggested his immediate future lies with Spurs, where he is due to return next season:
“In football, you never know. It could happen next year, or in ten years. I don't want to promise anyone anything.
“But it's my biggest dream to be on the pitch with him here in Hamburg, or later in Split. After this season, I'll be a Tottenham player again. I have a contract there until 2030.”
Vuskovic’s brother, who is under contract at Hamburg, is unable to play until next season due to a doping suspension. He was issued a four-year ban from football in November 2022.
Premier League Survival Crucial to Keeping Vuskovic
Tottenham’s chances of retaining Vuskovic next season could hinge on their Premier League status – if the Lilywhites are relegated, the Croatian would likely leave, along with other first-team stars.
Spurs appointed Roberto De Zerbi this week in a final attempt to turn their disappointing season around. The north London club currently sit 17th in the league with seven games remaining.
De Zerbi has signed a five-year contract and confirmed he will remain at Spurs next season regardless of their survival battle. The Italian has already begun preparations with the first-team squad ahead of his first game in charge, a trip to Sunderland next Sunday.
Tottenham are winless in their previous 13 Premier League games, their longest run without a win since 1935.
