Manchester City owners City Football Group (CFG) has reached an agreement in principle to sign Tottenham Hotspur forward Alejo Veliz, with their offer believed to be 'quite high', according to UOL.

The City Football Group own a number of clubs across the world, including Man City, Girona, Palermo, Troyes, Melbourne City, and Yokohama F. Marinos. Their most successful side is, of course, Manchester City, and the multi-club ownership model has seen all clubs benefit, with players often traded between the teams.

It's a model that's becoming increasingly popular within the modern game, with Chelsea and Strasbourg, both owned by BlueCo, another high-profile case.

Man City Group Agree Deal for Tottenham Star

According to a report from UOL, via Sport Witness, Man City owners City Football Group have reached an agreement in principle to sign Tottenham star Veliz, who is currently on loan at Rosario Central. Their offer is believed to be 'quite high', and Spurs could now cancel his loan in order to complete a permanent exit.

The move has come as a 'complete surprise', and there's a belief that Veliz will complete a move to CFG. It's unclear how CFG plan on using Veliz, and which club he will end up at, while it's also unconfirmed whether he's keen on cancelling his loan deal and making another move this month.

Veliz made the move to Spurs back in 2023, signing a six-year deal with the north London club. His arrival hasn't quite worked out as expected, making just eight Premier League appearances for the club. He's now on his third loan spell away from Tottenham, spending time with Sevilla and Espanyol before his recent Rosario Central move.

Time for Veliz to Move Permanently

Tottenham clearly rated Veliz incredibly highly when they first secured his signature, as it's not too often they hand out six-year deals. For one reason or another, it's not worked out for him at Tottenham, but it's certainly interesting that a successful group like CFG are interested in signing him.

There's little chance they are looking to take him to Man City, but either way, if Spurs have received a significant offer and it's not worked out for him at the club, it make sense for them to allow him to depart permanently. He's hardly pulled up any trees during his loan spells to warrant Spurs giving him a chance in the senior squad.
