Seeing Lisandro Martinez forced off the pitch in the first half of Argentina's World Cup final against Spain may have just made United fans' hearts drop a bit.
The centre-back is a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and it now seems like it's a waiting game to discover the extent of the injury.
It could be a race against time for Martinez. United's Premier League opener against newly-promoted Hull City is now less than five weeks away.
With Matthijs De Ligt still recovering from back surgery, it leaves United short on centre-back options should their worst fears be realised and Martinez is unavailable.
It seems it's just a matter of waiting and hoping at the moment.
Como President Mirwan Suwarso has said that the club will listen to offers for their players, amid reported interest from United in winger Martin Baturina.
United have been linked with an interest in the 23-year-old this summer, with the Croatia international scoring against England in the World Cup opener earlier this summer.
He joined Como last summer for £22m, but the Italian side will demand a much bigger fee if they are to sell. United also have reported competition from the likes of Aston Villa and Tottenham.
Speaking about potential sales, Suwarso said via Calcimercato:
“If there’s an offer, we’ll listen. If we like it, we’ll accept, but we’re not afraid to refuse. "Last summer, we rejected a €60m offer for Assane Diao. I can’t say from whom. And in the winter, another €40, for Jayden Addai.”
Manchester United are thinking of making a moves for Newcastle United's Lewis Hall and Fulham's Antonee Robinson as they look to strengthen their left-back options.
The Guardian reports that United are monitoring both players, with both having impressed in the Premier League in recent years. It's said that Michael Carrick is keen to add a player who can compete with Luke Shaw for the left-back role.
Hall is under contract with Newcastle until 2029, with Robinson under contract with Fulham for another two years.
There has been little indication from Old Trafford that United are ready to compete with Roma for the signing of Crysencio Summerville and with Marcus Rashford's future looking like it might be in Manchester, a deal for a senior left-winger looks more and more unlikely.
If Rashford does stay at the club, then he will compete with Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha on the left. United have a new name to throw into the mix as well.
A deal to sign 18-year-old Tynan Thompson from Spurs is worth up to £8million, half of which is add-ons based on first-team football. Thompson has been told there is a pathway there and he is another player who might fancy some minutes on the left-wing this season.
Marcus Rashford is 'relaxed' about returning to Manchester United following his post-World Cup break.
The forward has been representing England at the tournament and is now entitled to a three-week break, which means that he is due back for United's six-day training camp in the Republic of Ireland.
BBC Sport reports that Rashford is relaxed about the prospect of returning to his parent club, especially with there now being no Ruben Amorim. The forward is said to get on well with Carrick, who he has previously played alongside.
Roma are set to make a third bid for West Ham forward and United transfer target Crysencio Summervilla, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian club have already had two bids knocked back by the Hammers, with the latest 'in excess' of €45 million (£38.2m).

TalkSPORT are the latest outlet to report Aston Villa's interest in Manchester United transfer target Crysencio Summerville.
United face competition from Roma and Tottenham as well as Villa for the winger, but any United move is expected to be dependent on the future of Marcus Rashford.
Summerville is reported to have a release clause in his contract, but it is not disclosed what it is worth.
Villa's interest comes as they search for a replacement for the outgoing Morgan Rogers. The England international is set to complete a £117 million move to Chelsea soon.

Football Insider reports that Liverpool's scouts have been keeping a close eye on the midfielder during the World Cup as they look to improve their midfield options.
It's added that United are also 'keeping a close eye' on Kone, but that is as far as their interest has gone, meaning that Liverpool could make their move and potentially beat United to a deal.
Roma are said to be willing to take offers for Kone, given their financial situation, and are resigned to departures of their main players should clubs make their moves.

El Nacional reports that United, along with Chelsea are 'very interested' in the Athletic Bilbao man. It's added that he has a release clause of 'very close to' €90 million (£76.5m) in his contract.
United are said to have Williams on their list this summer as they identify wingers capable of winning duels and changing games.
Williams was a second-half substitute for Spain in the World Cup final vs Argentina on Sunday night. He had a goal ruled out before providing an assist for the winning goal in extra time.

Manchester United's summer transfer window cranked up a gear or two last week, with three first-team signings arriving at Old Trafford, writes Jack Flintham.
The first new face to join United, preceding Karl Darlow and Youri Tielemans, was midfielder Andrey Santos. At £50m, Santos represents the Reds' most expensive signing of the window so far.
The 22-year-old signed for Chelsea in January 2023 before concluding the season with his boyhood club Vasco da Gama. Once he eventually moved to England, Chelsea opted to loan him to fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest. Unfortunately for Santos, the switch proved to be unsuccessful, making just two appearances for the East Midlands club.
Then Forest manager Steve Cooper excused this bad loan spell, suggesting that players of Santos' age would struggle to get regular minutes anywhere in the Premier League. The fact he was not their player, only compounded the issue.

Tyler Fredricson is nearing a permanent departure from Manchester United, as per BBC Sport. The 21-year-old defender was omitted from the Reds squad which suffered a 1-0 loss to AFC Wrexham in a pre-season friendly on Saturday.
Celtic are thought to be a possible landing spot for Fredricson, after the Scottish champions saw a January move collapse. There is also potential interest from Europe, should the United talent make the decision not to head north of the border.
While there has been speculation that Amad Diallo is being considered by Newcastle United, it's hard to see any reality in which the Ivorian winger actually makes his way to St James' Park. Amad is a key part of Michael Carrick's plans for the season ahead, and also contracted until 2030 with the option of a further year.
The 24-year-old also has an affinity for Newcastle's most fiece rivals in Sunderland AFC, having represented the Black Cats on loan between 2022 and 2023 under Tony Mowbray. Given how consistantly outspoken he is about Wearside, it makes it even more unlikely that he would consider turning his back on Sunderland to play for the Magpies.
Carlos Baleba is waiting for a move to Manchester United this summer, according to reports. The Reds could add a third new midfielder to their squad after signing Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans.
Although United have spent £85m on Santos and Tielemans already, it's added that the Reds are prepared to spend up to £86m on Brighton's Baleba, who has been long-linked with a move to Old Trafford.
Radek Vitek wants to leave Man United during the transfer window.
Asked if he wanted to leave on loan or was happy to consider a permanent exit from United, Vitek said:
"I am ready for both, to be fair. Depends what the club wants and also depends on the options. We will see. There have been a few interests on the table. But we hope to get the best one and hopefully it will happen soon.
United are tempted to cash in on the young goalkeeper after he swept the board at Bristol City's player of the year award last season, with his chances of ever usurping Lammens considered unlikely.
With Andre Onana already returning to Trabzonspor on loan and Altay Bayindir also set to leave, there was a vacancy for a new No.2 goalkeeper at Old Trafford this summer.
But Vitek made it clear he had no interest in filling it, and United have since signed veteran Karl Darlow on a free transfer. Vitek said last season he felt it was important he continued to play regularly and he hasn't changed his opinion.
Vitek has been training at Carrington ahead of a move this summer and has again leaned on the experience of 40-year-old Tom Heaton and goalkeeping coach Craig Mawson to continue his development.
According to reports in Italy, Milan are said to be 'dreaming' of signing Man City star Phil Foden and could be willing to let Rafael Leao leave to make it happen.
The Italian side are reportedly aiming to raise between €50m and €60m from Leao's departure.
The winger has been repeatedly linked with United in recent months.
Reports from the Daily Mail claim the Leicester City defender has made it clear he wants to leave the club this summer, with Man United said to be interested in bringing him in.
The report adds that his £10m price tag is putting off potential suitors, that two bids have already been rejected, and that both United and West Ham are monitoring the situation.
