London City Lionesses goalscorer Grace Geyoro, speaking to BBC Sport: "We are very happy. We worked hard today. It was a very good game and we're happy to score four goals. We want to keep it [going].

"I'm very happy, it's my first goal. I'm proud. I work at it every day in training. It's good for me. I'm happy for me and the team.

"We work every day in training for efficiency and today we did it. We're happy and we want to keep it [going]."

'Not the result we wanted'

Birmingham City

Birmingham City's Oceane Hurtre speaking to the BBC: It's not the result we wanted but it was a good performance. We need to keep going and keep learning.

"We work a lot but maybe we need to keep the ball more and play before we are attacking.

"She [boss Amy Merricks] gives me a lot of confidence and I try to do my best for my team-mates.

"I try to do my best, to shoot and continue to score for the team and the club.

'Special'

FT: London City 4-1 Birmingham City

London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses' Poppy Pattinson, speaking to BBC Sport: "Pretty special. Since the games finished everyone's saying 'first WSL goal'. I know, I never score! It's worth the wait if I do that.

"As full backs we want to be attacking minded. I just thought follow the play. For most of the game we dominated on one side and managed to switch the ball. I followed it and not much more to say.

"I caught it sweet. I'm so happy."

On the result: "I'm proud of the team. I think last week we were disappointed. We wanted to come this week and show everyone this is our home and we wanted to make it hard here.

"We've got world class players so training is of a high standard. As footballers that's what you want to be around each day and it's only going to make us better. To do that we need to work hard every day and hopefully we showed that today.

"The competition for places in the team is high. I want to help the team as much as I can and play week in, week out. I want to do my best and hopefully I did that today.

"We really believe we can be at the top and hopefully you can see that in our performances. Every game in this league counts. Anyone can beat anyone."
