Despite De Zerbi’s refusal to hit out at VAR for not sending off Bogle after a four-minute review, the Spurs boss - at the time of the incident - vented his frustrations on the touchline and it landed him in hot water.
“No, I have big confidence in the referee,” De Zerbi said when asked if he would have wanted referee John Brooks to go to the monitor to look at Bogle’s challenge.
“Nothing changes if he goes to watch the clip or not. I think there was the VAR, and if they didn’t take the right decision, I don’t know. But we have confidence, we have to keep our eyes on the performance where we can improve.”
As De Zerbi picked up his third yellow card of the season, he must serve a one-match ban and that will come after the international break when Spurs host Ipswich in the Premier League.
His first booking of the campaign came in the goalless draw at home to Everton and the second followed in Tottenham’s rare win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
De Zerbi will next be at risk of a touchline ban if he accumulates six yellow cards, or if he is given a straight red card when he returns to the dugout against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on November 29.
