Manchester United are open to allowing Manuel Ugarte to leave the club this summer amid interest from Tottenham and a host of other clubs, according to TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils have enjoyed a relatively successful season so far, having sacked Ruben Amorim in January, before appointing Michael Carrick on an interim basis and climbing to third in the Premier League, and putting themselves in a top position to qualify for next season's Champions League.
A midfield overhaul is expected to be a priority during the upcoming transfer window, with a number of signings expected to arrive, but the club are also looking to move some players on now too to raise funds and create space.
Man Utd Ready to Sell Ugarte
Ugarte, who has been described as 'unbelievable', has struggled for regular first-team football this season, managing just seven starts in the Premier League and is understood to be keen to depart Old Trafford in the summer as a result.
Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be interested in a deal for new manager Roberto De Zerbi, while Newcastle have been in contact with his agents, and both Juventus and AC Milan are keeping a close eye on developments for the Uruguay international.
However, it has now emerged that Turkish giants Galatasaray are now the favourites for his signature, having initially come close to a deal in January, before United blocked his exit as they couldn't find a replacement.
But the Turkish side have not seen their interest deteriorate, and it is currently viewed as the most likely outcome. The Istanbul club are well-positioned to secure a deal financially, and Man Utd are also more than open to a sale, making a move very likely.
Ugarte Deal Has Been a Disaster
When Ugarte arrived from Paris Saint-Germain in a deal worth £50m, there were some big question marks over how he would fit into the team. As a defensive midfielder, he does a job when it comes to breaking up play, but in possession he is a big liability and that hasn't been helpful to the team.
United are now looking for upgrades in the summer, with players who can do the dirty work defensively, and also help with build-up and attacking at the same time.
The Ugarte deal has essentially been a disaster from the beginning, and a move away would be the perfect solution for all involved.
