Manchester United have named teenage midfielder Jack Fletcher in their squad to face Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League this weekend.

Ruben Amorim was handed a fresh injury blow ahead of the match when Kobbie Mainoo suffered a minor setback that is expected to keep him sidelined for a short period. United had hoped to have a fully fit squad to choose from for the clash, but will be without the 20-year-old academy graduate.

It means United had been at risk of ending an incredible record that has seen an academy graduate named in every first-team squad since 1937, a tally that currently stands at 4,332 successive matches. To keep that record intact, teenage midfielder Fletcher has travelled to North London and will be named on the bench for the clash on Saturday lunchtime.

Manchester United confirmed squad vs Tottenham

Manchester United will be without two first-team stars for their trip to face Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday lunchtime. Kobbie Mainoo suffered a minor setback that saw him excluded from the travelling squad for the clash, while Lisandro Martinez is still not ready to be risked after his recent return to full team training.

It means Ruben Amorim could name an unchanged starting line up for only the second time in the Premier League after he did so for the first time against Nottingham Forest a week ago. Senne Lammens will keep his place in goal, while Leny Yoro could start alongside Matthijs De Ligt and Luke Shaw in defence.

Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes are certain to be the central midfield partnership, with Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot the likely selection in the wing-back roles. Bryan Mbeumo and Matheus Cunha will start in attack and Benjamin Sesko should lead the line in North London.

It means teenage midfielder Jack Fletcher will be named on the bench, with veteran goalkeeper Tom Heaton likely to miss out from the final matchday squad altogether at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Goalkeepers: Lammens, Bayindir, Heaton. Defenders: Dalot, Heaven, Yoro, Mazraoui, De Ligt, Dorgu, Shaw, Maguire. Midfielders: Ugarte, Casemiro, Fernandes, Mount. J. Fletcher. Forwards: Cunha, Amad, Sesko, Mbeumo, Zirkzee.
