Last Word on Football brings you the latest Manchester United vs Tottenham team news and predicted lineups ahead of an intriguing Premier League clash.
Neither team has hit the ground running this season, and with a prolonged international break bringing injuries to both teams, both Michael Carrick and Roberto de Zerbi could be under pressure in this one.
United drew last time out after a dismal display away at Fulham. The Red Devils had to rely on an 89th-minute equaliser from Matheus Cunha to avoid defeat. Tottenham put on a similarly disappointing display when they lost 3-2 to Aston Villa at home.

Manchester United Team News
Since Manchester United’s last fixture, there have been plenty of players who have suffered injuries either before or during the international break.
During the international break, both Carlos Baleba and Matthijs de Ligt got minutes in the legs in a behind-closed-doors friendly, and we could see them feature against Tottenham in some capacity on Saturday night.
Michael Carrick explained that Amad Diallo has been training a little; however, it’s highly unlikely we see him on Saturday evening.
He also informed us that Patrick Dorgu will be out for a few weeks after picking up an injury on international duty. Noussair Mazraoui also isn’t fit after picking up a knock, which makes the Manchester United vs Tottenham predicted lineup straightforward with regards to United’s fullbacks.
After withdrawing from international duty, both Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo have “done a little bit of training”, although Carrick didn’t make it clear as to whether the English duo would return on Saturday.
Benjamin Sesko remains out.
Tottenham Team News
Spurs were handed a huge boost during the international break as Swedish winger Dejan Kulusevski played some part in a behind-closed-doors friendly. The 26-year-old has been out of action since May 2025; however, the trip to Old Trafford will likely be too soon for him to have a playing role, but he will go to Old Trafford as ‘support’.
Roberto de Zerbi confirmed that Mykhailo Mudryk won’t make the trip to Manchester.
A boost for United has seen Pedro Porro ruled out after he withdrew from the Spanish squad with a hamstring injury.
After a worry that the centre-back pairing of Micky Van de Ven and Jan-Paul van Hecke may both be out, the Spurs boss confirmed that both are available for the Manchester United vs Tottenham game.
James Maddison could feature, although de Zerbi commented on a minor injury suffered by the former Leicester man, saying, “Not a big injury and tomorrow he can play, but the Premier League is tough, and you need to be fit and in the right condition to run and fight”.

The Last Word – Match Prediction
This Saturday evening’s Manchester United vs Tottenham fixture is a difficult one to predict. Neither team has looked their usual self this season, and both managers are certainly under pressure to perform and come away with a win.
Injuries will hamper both teams, and with United potentially having one eye on the Atletico Madrid fixture in the week, Carrick could change his team.
This game will be won and lost in the midfield, and poetically, it could be two of Manchester United’s summer targets, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes, who could make the difference. Similarly, it could be two former Manchester City players, Marmoush and Savio, who could be a thorn in the side of their former rivals. Tottenham have struggled to score goals this season, notching just two goals, both of which came in their last match against Villa. If there’s a team that conceded needless goals, it’s Manchester United; however, the home team should have enough to keep Spurs rooted to the bottom of the table.
Prediction: Manchester United 2-1 Tottenham
