‘Get a grip’ – Martin O’Neill slams Tottenham player for what he did after Nottingham Forest defeat

Tottenham were embarrassing in their 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, and Martin O’Neill has no sympathy for the players.

Thomas Frank is now under immense pressure at Tottenham following his side’s display at the City Ground, which saw them drop to 11th in the Premier League.

Guglielmo Vicario and Archie Gray were at fault for Forest’s opener, with the pair ceding possession in their own 18-yard box and allowing Callum Hudson-Odoi to tap into an empty net.

Hudson-Odoi doubled the hosts’ lead from a ridiculous angle, with Vicario at fault once again, before Ibrahim Sangare fired home the third late on.

Martin O’Neill fumes at Pedro Porro’s interview

Pedro Porro left Tottenham fans disgusted after the game, giving an interview which seemed to call out some of his teammates’ mistakes.

Porro also gave a half-hearted apology to the fans for the nature of the performance, saying that the supporters who had travelled didn’t deserve that display.

Former Celtic manager O’Neill was unimpressed by the Spanish full-back’s comments, feeling that he was failing to take accountability for his own poor showing.

Speaking on talkSPORT, O’Neill said: “Saying the fans deserve better than that? No, the fans deserve better from your performances, mate. Get a grip of yourself, get a grip of yourself.

“I hope he’s including himself in that group of players who didn’t play so well.”

Martin O’Neill absolutely right to criticise Pedro Porro

Porro was more than happy to highlight Gray’s mistake in his post-match press conference, but the defender has to take some accountability for his own performance.

The 26-year-old had a poor game defensively as Tottenham conceded three goals, winning just three of his eight ground duels.

It was on the ball where Porro really struggled though, as he gave possession away an astonishing 22 times across the 90 minutes.

Just 72 per cent of his passes reached a Tottenham player and he didn’t complete a single one of his four attempted crosses.

Of course, Porro wasn’t the only one who had a bad game, but he was rightly called out by O’Neill for commenting on others when his own performance was abysmal.
