Mikey Moore has captured the attention of one of Europe’s biggest clubs after his breakthrough season at Tottenham.
Moore has become an example for Tottenham academy players to follow since signing his first professional contract the day after his 17th birthday.
Ange Postecoglou handed Moore his senior debut in the 2023/24 campaign, and the teenager became a first-team regular last season. However, it remains to be seen whether he fits into Thomas Frank’s plans.
And with Juventus interested in the young star, some fans will be fearful of Moore leaving Tottenham.
Moore ‘to sign new Tottenham contract’ despite Juventus interest
As reported in La Gazzetta Dello Sport (19 June, page six), Juventus are interested in signing Moore this summer, with former Tottenham football director Damien Comolli fronting the interest from the Old Lady.
MORE SPURS STORIES
It is understood that Juventus are willing to pay around £17million for the Spurs winger, but it is believed that Tottenham will demand around £50m to part with their rising star.
However, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes the interest from Italy will not amount to anything as Moore edges toward signing a new contract with Spurs.
“Moore has been known about since he was 15,” Wenham said.
“That’s how the football market works now. He’s been wanted by the likes of Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich, Inter Milan, Manchester City and Chelsea.
“I believe he will sign a new contract in August after his 18th birthday, and I believe he has a promising future ahead of him at Tottenham. I’m sure Frank will take a good look during pre-season and decide where his future lies.”
Moore could still leave Tottenham this summer
Moore could still decide to leave this summer despite Spurs’ desire to keep him.
Indeed, with Son Heung-min potentially set to depart this summer, Moore could have taken over the South Korean’s duties on the left. However, Tottenham have been linked to several players who can play in this position.
Even if a signing does not materialise this summer, this could indicate that Moore is not in Frank’s plans. Therefore, the 17-year-old could be convinced of a loan move or even a permanent transfer in the coming weeks.
