Tottenham Hotspur forward Richarlison is still looking to secure a move away from the club, and Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold has confirmed that he would be able to leave on loan, despite reports to the contrary.
Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has confirmed that the Brazilian attacker told him throughout the summer that he wanted to leave the club, but despite interest from the likes of Everton and Trabzonspor during the transfer window, he remains in north London after both clubs failed to agree a deal with Spurs.
With the transfer windows of many countries now closed, Richarlison's options are narrowing, but he does still have a couple to explore in the coming days.
One of those is the Portuguese window and another is the Brazilian one, both of which close on September 11.
It was claimed by Brazilian outlet Ge.Globo on Tuesday evening that the 29-year-old has agreed a return to his homeland with Vasco da Gama, who are trying to sign him on loan.
However, the same report claimed that Spurs are unable to loan out another player, because of a FIFA rule that states that a club is prohibited from having more than six players on loan to clubs from other federations.
That would mean that the Brazilian club would need to work on a permanent deal for the forward, who has less than one year remaining on his contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
An exit looked more unlikely for Richarlison given that alleged ruling, but Gold posted on X on Tuesday night that Tottenham actually are able to loan the Brazilian out.
This is because three of their seven loans are for players aged 21 and under, who are exempt from the ruling.
As the reporter points out, a loan exit wouldn't be the ideal scenario for Spurs, given the player would then walk away for free in a year's time, if they fail to take up the option on his contract.
Should Richarlison fail to secure a move away from the club by the end of this week, he will be left in a sticky situation.
Tottenham have already confirmed that the 29-year-old isn't part of the 25-man squad that has been named for the first half of the Premier League season, which means that if he doesn't secure a move away, he will be left on the sidelines until January.
Asked about his decision to omit Richarlison last week, De Zerbi said:
"It was not my decision. It is the normal decision.
I think Richarlison, he decided everything alone. He spoke with me at the beginning of the pre-season and told me his idea and desire was to leave.
"At the end we go to bring another striker [in] and like I said at the beginning of the pre-season, I want to keep the players, just the players that want to stay and be proud and with the right passion to stay here.
"Then for everything and other problems, it is not my business and not my job. It is the responsibility of the club.
It looks likely that he has already played his final game for the club, but if he does stick around, Spurs will hope that they find their goalscoring feet on the pitch as soon as possible.
After going goalless in their three Premier League matches, suggestions that Richarlison should have been named in the squad will emerge if Tottenham continue to offer little threat in the final third in their next matches.
