Newcastle United co-owner Jamie Reuben sent Eddie Howe a clear message on social media following Newcastle United’s win over Spurs.
Newcastle United returned from the capital with three points in the bag after a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday night. The clash between Newcastle and Spurs was one fought between two teams that had disappointed this season, with the three points on offer a very precious reward for whoever could overcome their opponents.
Thanks to goals from Malick Thiaw and Jacob Ramsey, it would ultimately be the Magpies that took home the points as they left their opponents mired in a potential relegation battle. Newcastle, meanwhile, ended the night in the top half of the table.
Howe made some bold calls on Tuesday night, making four changes including naming a front three that didn’t include either of the club’s big money summer striker signings. That choice was a risk, particularly with the form that the team were in heading to north London, but his selection decisions were vindicated almost immediately as the Magpies put in a dominant 45 minute display in the first-half.
Spurs may have come back into the game in the second half, but Jacob Ramsey’s winning goal was the least that Howe’s side deserved and ensured that, for just the third time this season, they would leave a Premier League away game with three points in the bag. That win was a huge one for not just their league position, but also for Howe who had come under some criticism in recent weeks.

Newcastle United were booed off at St James’ Park following their loss to Brentford on Saturday evening, with Howe facing some tough questions in the wake of that defeat and ahead of their trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. However, after a fist pumping celebration in-front of the away end on Tuesday night, it’s clear that Howe retains the support of the travelling crowd and, after a tweet from Jamie Reuben, it’s also clear he retains the support of the club’s ownership.
Reuben took to X post-match to post a photo of Howe celebrating at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium alongside: ‘♥ @NUFC’.
Eddie Howe makes honest Newcastle United future admission
Speaking to the media ahead of their midweek trip to the capital, Howe was asked if he does have any doubts that he is the right person to take the club forward.
“No, there's no doubt in my mind,” he responded. “That's why I'm sat here. If there was, then I wouldn't be, because as I said, the club's the most important thing.
“So I'd never put myself before the club if I didn't think I was the correct man to take the team forward and I could give the players what they need, then I would step aside and let someone else do it.”
Howe and his team have a few days to recover from that win before they play once again on the road, this time against Aston Villa in the FA Cup. That match takes place on Saturday 14 February and will kick-off at 5:45pm at Villa Park.
