Tottenham Hotspur reached a major breakthrough on Tuesday when they agreed a club-record £85m fee to sign Mateus Fernandes from West Ham United, but Football London correspondent Alasdair Gold has shared more 'positive news' from inside the club.

Tottenham are winning the transfer window so far, having not only been the busiest club, but also by completing some smart additions as they look to bounce back from successive 17th-place finishes in the Premier League.

Spurs have already brought in tonnes of English top flight experience with the free transfer arrivals of Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi and Martin Dubravka, with Fernandes now also set to follow Jan Paul van Hecke through the door at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Manchester United had looked to be in the driving seat for the Portugal international just a few weeks ago, but Spurs have laid down a marker to their Premier League rivals by usurping them and smashing their transfer record in the process.

The north London outfit are far from finished, and they are still in talks to seal a deal for Newcastle United star Sandro Tonali, with new additions expected in their attack too.

With all of these signings, it is inevitable that players will leave too, but Gold has relayed a positive update on that.

Gold: Lucas Bergvall 'Not for Sale' at Tottenham

One of the other big Tottenham bombshells last month was David Ornstein reporting that Lucas Bergvall had informed Spurs that he wanted to explore a move away from the club this summer.

Unsurprisingly, having already found starts hard to come by under De Zerbi at the end of last season, the Sweden international has bee questioning his future given Tottenham's pursuit to sign both Fernandes and Tonali.

However, Tottenham say that the Nottingham Forest-liked player is not for sale and that they have reassured the youngster he is in their plans, according to Gold speaking on his YouTube channel.

"In other positive news, I guess it is positive news, depending on your point of view. From what I understand, Lucas Bergvall is not for sale, and I know Spurs have not received any formal bids for him as of yet.

"Apparently De Zerbi and Lange, this is the bit I haven't been able to confirm, but I'm presuming it is true. De Zerbi and Lange have reached out to him at the World Cup to explain that he is part of their plans."

Tottenham Midfielder Must Leave

While Bergvall isn't for sale, what is clear is that Tottenham will surely have to let another midfielder leave if they complete the double signing of Fernandes and Tonali.

Along with those two, De Zerbi would have Rodrigo Bentancur, Bergvall, Conor Gallagher, Archie Gray and Pape Matar Sarr to pick from in the position, with it being unclear if they will still try and sign Joao Palhinha permanently.

Given those players would be fighting for two spots in midfield, it appears likely that at least one of the aforementioned names would need to go this summer, with Sarr perhaps the most likely candidate, or even Gray on loan.
