Tottenham return to Premier League action this weekend with a daunting test against Man City, and we have now attempted to predict how the Dane could line up against Pep Guardiola’s side.
Tottenham Hotspur are back in Premier League action after a successful outing in Europe, where they secured a victory over Eintracht Frankfurt and booked a spot in the round of 16.
However, in the Premier League, Spurs are far from their scintillating best, as they find themselves in 14th place and have managed just two wins in their last fourteen games.
Standing in their way this weekend, as Frank’s side looks to arrest the slide, are Manchester City, who are gunning for the title with four points separating them from table toppers Arsenal.
Frank still has a few injuries to contend with coming into this fixture, and we have now attempted to predict how the Dane will line up.
Predicted Tottenham XI vs Man City
Goalkeeper – Guglielmo Vicario: The Dane kept the most clean sheets in the Champions League league phase and was barely threatened last time out against Frankfurt. With a crucial game on the line, he should keep his spot.
Right-back – Djed Spence: Pedro Porro is out for four weeks, and that should see Spence fill in at right-back until he returns.
MORE SPURS STORIES
Centre-back – Cristian Romero: The Tottenham captain did not get a goal against Frankfurt, but he grabbed an assist as he continues to remain a set-piece threat. Thomas Frank will be looking to him to lead the side once more.
Centre-back – Micky van de Ven: The Dutchman missed out during midweek but should be fit and ready to feature against City on Sunday after a few days of training.
Centre-back – Kevin Danso: The Austrian remains a valuable addition, as he sticks well to his tasks and does the basics right. We expect him to feature here as Frank uses Destiny Udogie to give his team some width on the left.
Left-back – Destiny Udogie: It should be back-to-back games for Udogie, who was impressive against Frankfurt. With Tottenham stretched at the back, we could see the full-back deployed high and wide, holding the width in attack.
Pivot midfielder – Joao Palhinha: The midfielder missed a few league games due to a minor knock, but made his return against Frankfurt, and we expect Frank to stick with him against the Citizens.
Pivot midfielder – Conor Gallagher: The Englishman has yet to fully settle at Tottenham as he continues to find rhythm. He is expected to return to the starting XI after missing out last time.
Attacking midfielder – Xavi Simons: The Dutchman is finding some much-needed form and put in a solid display against Frankfurt. He should keep his place in the number ten role.
Right winger – Wilson Odobert: Odobert should keep his spot on the right in the absence of Mohammed Kudus, a position he has thrived in during recent weeks.
