Roberto De Zerbi is making it clear that he wants to finish in the Premier League’s top four at Tottenham Hotspur next season.

The North London club are certainly wasting no time in the transfer market this summer by already agreeing deals for Andy Robertson and Marcos Senesi.

🗣️ What would your end of season message be for Johan Lange, Vinai Venkatesham and ENIC?

👀 What immediate changes need to be made…

Meanwhile, talks remain ongoing for Savinho and Jan Paul van Hecke, as the Lilywhites look to continue backing their manager.

The Italian manager is a big fan of the majority of this Spurs squad, but he also feels like the club will back him enough to get back into the Champions League next term.

Roberto De Zerbi wants to finish in the top four at Tottenham

Roberto De Zerbi is making it clear behind the scenes that he wants to finish in the top four with Tottenham Hotspur next season, according to Ben Jacobs.

Privately, the Italian manager feels as though Spurs should be qualifying for the Champions League next campaign.

The 43-year-old has been given real control at Spurs, and he believes that the club are going to significantly back him in the transfer market.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Speaking on Last Word On Spurs, Jacobs revealed: “All of this does feel like a fresh start, and now Tottenham have to do two things. One, put their money where their mouth is, which has happened already with some shrewd signings.

“Two, start building a squad that’s capable of challenging at the top half of the table and trying to get one of those Champions League spots.

“Make no mistake, my expectation is that Roberto De Zerbi will have one aim. I don’t think he’ll put the pressure on the players of saying it outright, but privately, my information is that Roberto De Zerbi feels Spurs should be qualifying for the Champions League next season.

👀Who should be the FIRST Tottenham player sold this summer?🤔

“Big ask, ambitious aim, never something, as I say, that you want to kind of say before a ball is kicked because it puts pressure on a group that were fighting relegation.

“But De Zerbi is under the impression that he’s going to be further backed in the market and that this squad is good enough to do much, much better things. If they can finally get that right, this project can move forward.”

Today is the first day of the transfer window, and Spurs have already made real progress in terms of bolstering De Zerbi’s options for next season.

With no European football and nine Premier League teams competing in the UEFA competitions, Spurs should sense this as a chance to finally enjoy a successful league campaign.
