Salford City have signed Tottenham Hotspur defender Alfie Dorrington on loan until the end of the current campaign.
The centre-back, 20, has made one senior appearance for Spurs and made 30 appearances for Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, either side of the summer break.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur academy, Dorrington joined the Lilywhites at 13 and played through the ranks up before making his first-team debut as a substitute in the Premier League in 2024-25 away at Southampton in a 5-0 win.
In January 2025, Dorrington joined Aberdeen on loan and made 16 appearances across the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup, including four in the Dons’ run to the final where they beat Celtic on penalties.
Dorrington returned to Pittodrie on loan in the summer and played in the Europa League and the Conference League before being recalled in early January.
A regular international at youth level for England, the defender brings a winning pedigree after helping Spurs’ Under-21s to win the U21 Premier League in 2023-24.
Dorrington expressed his delight at completing his loan move to Salford and hopes to be a key contributor as the club bid to earn promotion to League One.
He said: “I’m buzzing, and I can’t wait to get going. The aim is to get promoted. I spoke to the manager, who said we want to get promoted, and I see the ambition of the Club and where it wants to go.
“I want to be part of that, try to do the best I can to get on the team, and help the team to get promoted.
“I can’t wait to train and see everyone, get to know everyone. I know two boys here, which helps with settling in. I spoke to them before I came here and they had nothing but good things to say, so I just can’t wait to get going, can’t wait to play, and push for promotion.”
Salford boss Karl Robinson added: “We’re pleased to be able to bring Alfie in and bolster our defensive options, and our thanks to Tottenham for trusting us to look after him for the rest of the season.
“He has had a couple of very encouraging spells in Scotland with Aberdeen after impressing at the youth level for his club and England, and we feel that his aerial ability and composure on the ball will add to the options we already have in the building going into what we’re hoping is a very exciting second half of the season.”
