Latest Nottingham Forest news as Sean Dyche's Reds beat Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 in Premier League clash
Sean Dyche usually keeps his cool whenever a goal is scored, but even he allowed himself a little celebration when Nottingham Forest’s third went in against Tottenham Hotspur.
Ibrahim Sangare capped a tremendous afternoon at the City Ground with a stunning 79th-minute strike to seal a 3-0 win for the Reds on Sunday. Callum Hudson-Odoi had already netted a brace by that point as the hosts moved five points clear of the relegation zone.
Sangare’s goal was the pick of the bunch, though. Not only was there some lovely build-up play beforehand, but the finish by the midfielder from outside the area was a beauty.
Head coach Dyche acknowledged as much as he offered some applause and a thumbs up. He also turned to assistants Steve Stone and Ian Woan and mouthed: ‘What a goal!’
Not that the 54-year-old was prepared to admit he had revelled in the moment. Asked about his celebration, he joked afterwards: “I'll have to look at that back.
“I'll have to get the VAR to have a check on that. I'm disappointed in myself if I have got involved in that nonsense.”
There was no denying Dyche’s delight in his team’s display, though. It was Forest’s best performance since his appointment - even topping last month’s triumph by the same scoreline away to reigning Premier League champions Liverpool.
“I'm enjoying it and it's a challenge,” Dyche said. “It's quite obvious the challenge, so many games and injuries and all that, but you've got to find enjoyment from it.
“And you know, I think the collective mental attitude here, it's been fantastic since we came in. The fans, you know, they're part of the team.
“Everyone is responding to what we're trying to offer them, because without that, you can't do it as a manager. You know, you need the players to respond to what you're trying to guide them towards. And I've been really, really pleased.”
