Thomas Frank will be desperately trying to distance himself from the old regime at Tottenham.

Ange Postecoglou delivered the Lilywhites their first major trophy for 17 years at the end of last season, but that came hand in hand with an awful domestic campaign that ultimately cost him his job.

Frank is trying to move Tottenham into a new era, both as a team and a club, and put their failings from the past firmly behind them.

The Dane has overseen a bright start to the new Premier League campaign, and he is already working hard to prevent one of the main issues for his predecessor from recurring this term.

This article includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist.

Thomas Frank is trying to manage the workload at Tottenham

Frank has been heavily praised at Tottenham for the work that he has done so far, and there is already an entirely different feel around the team this season.

The N17 outfit will be hoping for that to continue on the injury front, after their season was badly hampered by a horrendous run of issues last season.

The Lilywhites lost countless key players to long-term injuries in 2024/25, and it effectively left them with both hands tied behind their backs for large parts of the campaign.

Dr Rajpal Brar – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes that Frank will be paying plenty of attention to the training and game workload of his players to try and prevent the same issues this time around.

“Frank will be acutely aware of what happened last season as he is a manager who is typically aware of all variables that will impact his squad and performance,” the injury expert said.

“I’m sure he is taking preventative measures via training practices and load management, along with not having a playing style like Postecoglou’s that relied so heavily on a high quantity and duration of sprints.”

Spurs must manage Radu Dragusin and Dejan Kulusevski carefully

Tottenham could get Dejan Kulusevski and Radu Dragusin back within the next couple of months, but they must ensure they manage the returning duo incredibly carefully until the end of the campaign.

Both have been sidelined with serious long-term injuries, and as a result, Frank and Co. must be mindful that they don’t throw them in at the deep end when they do come back into the fold.

They will both need to be eased back into regular football, or Spurs risk them breaking down again and being out for another lengthy period.
