Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal worth £100m with Newcastle United to sign Sandro Tonali, according to David Ornstein.

The north London club narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League on the final day of the season thanks to a 1-0 win over Everton, and the team are now looking to reward Roberto De Zerbi by strengthening the squad.

After agreeing a club-record deal with West Ham to sign Mateus Fernandes for £85m, the club have now gone one further and found an agreement with the Magpies to further strengthen their midfield with the Italy international in a huge statement signing.

Tottenham Agree £100m Tonali Deal

Tonali, who has been described as 'world-class', has been expected to leave the north East club all summer after they missed out on European football, but the Magpies valuation saw a number of clubs back away from negotiations.

But Spurs had made him their top target to make a statement in the market and bolster their squad, and an agreement has now been found for a club-record deal worth nine figures.

Tottenham have agreed to pay a fixed fee of £92.5m for the former AC Milan star, plus a further £7.5m in add-ons based around multiple Champions League qualifications.

Tonali will now join alongside Andy Robertson, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Martin Dubravka, and Fernandes in what is proving to be an incredibly busy summer for Spurs, as they look to get back to being competititve in the Premier League after two 17th-placed finishes.

Tonali a Statement Signing for Spurs

Spurs were always going to be busy in the summer window after a poor season, but they are really putting their money where their mouth is this summer and are going all-out to bolster the squad.

Tonali is a world-class operator and had interest from the likes of Arsenal, Man City, Man Utd and others this summer, but Spurs being able to get a deal over the line is a huge statement that they are ready to push hard and compete with the very best around.

Lucas Bergvall is expected to depart having asked to leave, which creates space for new arrivals, and Tonali will now be the heartbeat of the squad for the upcoming season and beyond with a deal being done.
