Tottenham Women supporters have received a positive update after a very disappointing season.

Tottenham announced earlier this month that Robert Vilahamn had been sacked after the Lilywhites finished 11th in the Barclays Women’s Super League last season.

As a result, Spurs need to appoint a new manager and will also be looking to bring in fresh faces to the squad. However, it is also important for Tottenham to keep hold of some of their more important players, too, a task which they appear to be making progress with.

Tottenham announce new deal for Molly Bartrip

Tottenham announced on Monday (23 June) that Bartrip has signed a new three-year contract in North London.

The defender has been singled out for her consistency since rejoining Spurs from Reading in 2021.

MORE SPURS STORIES

Bartrip reached a century of games for Tottenham last March and has made 106 appearances in total for the North London club in all competitions.

The 29-year-old is one of four players in the current squad to have surpassed this total.

Tottenham will need to rely on Bartrip next season

Bartrip has played every single minute for Tottenham in the WSL across the last two seasons.

There is nothing more important in football than consistency. While supporters are drawn to players who can perform masterful tricks with the ball, consistent players are the backbone of any team.

Bartrip has not only demonstrated that she can perform at the highest level each week, but is someone the manager can depend on. This will be important to any new manager who arrives at Tottenham.

Furthermore, the Lilywhites will not be planning a repeat of last season.

Bartrip will undoubtedly play a huge role in the team’s collective improvement next season. Not only from the back ordering her defensive line, but also as a leader for the rest of the group.

Therefore, there is little doubt that Bartrip will continue to be an important player for Spurs over the next three years, and agreeing a new contract was an important decision.
