Tottenham Hotspur could consider a surprise move for Monaco forward Maghnes Akliouche before the transfer deadline, GIVEMESPORT senior correspondent Ben Jacobs has revealed.

The North London side are considering signing a new winger amid their injury issues, with Dejan Kulusevski, Mohammed Kudus and Richarlison all sidelined.

While a move for Akliouche is not currently in the works, Jacobs suggests Spurs could move for the Frenchman ‘for the right price’, although their priorities lie slightly elsewhere.

Spurs are more likely to target a left-sided attacker if they were to sign reinforcements, while Akliouche is a natural right winger.

Tottenham Could Move for Akliouche

Jacobs, speaking on the Market Madness podcast, revealed that Tottenham are unlikely to move for any of their long-term targets, Savinho and Yan Diomande, before the deadline, but that an Akliouche deal could emerge as more viable:

“You've got Akliouche, who can play on the right or the left, and remember, Mohammed Kudus is injured, and the likes of Savinho and Yan Diomande, two other players that Tottenham really like, I'm not so sure that either of those latter two deals will be possible between now and the end of the window.

“Akliouche maybe for the right price, but then when Kudus comes back, he'd have to be pushed centrally or over to the left-hand side.

“So that would be a consideration, because he prefers playing on the right-hand side. And I think Tottenham's long term plans are to find a left-sided attacker.”

Akliouche, praised as 'insane', has been a key player for Monaco this season, scoring three goals and providing five assists in 27 appearances across all competitions.

The £50m-rated forward, who is under contract until June 2028, has won five senior caps for France to date, scoring his first and only goal in the 3-1 win over Azerbaijan in December.

Tottenham’s January Business So Far

Tottenham have welcomed midfielder Conor Gallagher and left-back Souza as their only two signings of the January transfer window so far.

Forward Brennan Johnson was sold to Crystal Palace, while defender Kota Takai joined Borussia Monchengladbach on loan.

Tottenham are anticipating further business before the deadline, with goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky potentially heading to West Ham on loan.
