Tottenham may have to admit defeat in their pursuit of Bournemouth’s Antoine Semenyo, but it may not be all bad news for Spurs fans.
Thomas Frank requires new attackers, and Semenyo has been identified as the perfect Tottenham signing ahead of the January transfer window.
However, a deal was always going to be difficult to conclude with the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool interested in the forward.
A move for Semenyo now looks to be fading away, but reports have tipped Spurs to turn their attention back to City’s Savinho.

As per widespread reports, Semenyo’s preferred destination is the Etihad Stadium, as the Bournemouth winger is expected to leave the Cherries in January.

With that being said, the potential transfer means Man City will have more players to juggle in attack, as Savinho may have to make way for the Ghanaian.
Tottenham have held previous interest in Savinho, with the Brazilian finding minutes hard to come by this season under Pep Guardiola.
According to an article from The Telegraph on Wednesday, if Semenyo signs for Man City, the Lilywhites could go back in for Savinho.
The article read: “Semenyo is not thought to be interested in a January move to Tottenham Hotspur, who had also shown an interest.
“Spurs, however, could renew their interest in Savinho if City win the race for Semenyo.“
The news makes for a fascinating comparison between the two.
Data says Semenyo and Savinho are completely different outlets
Tottenham have struggled in attack since Frank’s arrival, and either of the linked players would be a huge boost for the Dane.
But Spurs’ suggested contingency plan is interesting, as data proves that both Semenyo and Savinho are completely different players.
Looking at Sofascore‘s data from last season for a fair comparison, it’s clear that Savinho excels over Semenyo in the playmaking department.
The City winger focused more on creating chances for his side, while Semenyo acted as a goal threat for Bournemouth.
Given that Tottenham have failed to create many chances under Frank, the latest on Semenyo could be a blessing in disguise if they manage to bring Savinho to N17.
