'Tottenham always loan out a lot of players each season and Rovers have their good relationship with the club and treated Akhamrich well so will be well placed if there's someone they want.'

Yusuf Akhamrich was one of five loanees who arrived in January 2026 to help Bristol Rovers move away from the League Two relegation zone in the second half of last season.

The 20-year-old scored six goals and registered two assists after joining the Gas from Spurs on January 22.

He has now returned to the North London club, while Rovers have moved quickly in the summer transfer window, signing eight players already, including Kofi Balmer, Richie Smallwood, Bobby Kamwa, and Jack Aitchison.

Only one of the eight additions so far has been a loan, Tommy Leigh, leaving four spots available for Rovers to use in the remaining months of the window.

So, could Rovers look to go back in for Akhamrich, or are there other young talents at Spurs that Evans could look to bring in?

We spoke to Alasdair Gold, who is the Tottenham Hotspur correspondent for Football.London, to get the Spurs perspective on Akhamrich's time in BS7, and potential youngsters that Rovers could target between now and September 1.

What did you make of Yusuf Akhamrich’s loan spell at Bristol Rovers?

"Really promising. It was only half a season or so but it was a spectacular loan with plenty of moments for his highlights reel.

"I kept a close eye on him and six goals and two assists in the first 19 senior games of his career is a great return and his superb technique was on full display whenever he played. He's such a thrilling player to watch when he's in full flow.

"I think a lot of Spurs fans who might not have heard of him before certainly had their eyes opened."

Where do you think Yusuf Akhamrich will go next?

"The path is pretty blocked at Tottenham right now with more wingers to come in through the doors so it's unlikely Akhamrich will break through this summer unless he gets a chance to impress De Zerbi.

"Otherwise, he's got two years left on his contract, so another loan could be the way forward with Spurs often putting options to buy in loan deals now for players they doubt will end up playing for them, but believe they'll get some money back for.

"Tottenham usually like to try players at the next level from the one they played at previously, but it depends on the club, and there's one League Two side that obviously the young winger had a strong connection with."

Do you think there’s a possibility that Akhamrich could return to Rovers for a full season?

"That's who I was hinting at above. Akhamrich clearly enjoyed himself at Rovers, and Steve Evans took a real shine to him. Ultimately, though, it'll be down to the player, Spurs, and whether Rovers still need him at the time a decision is made.

"He's got bundles of talent, and it'll be about the best choice for him with the balance of game time, the challenge, and his development."

Who are the Spurs youngsters that Bristol Rovers could target for a loan move this summer, and why?

"Only in regards to the division they're in and not their status because Rovers are obviously a big historic name in the game, but Spurs' best young talents are being eyed up by Championship clubs, and some Premier League clubs, or those from abroad.

"League Two loan moves are normally reserved for those youngsters seeking their first foray into senior football and those who the club need to see how they will develop first.

"Some may well still become stars, and Harry Kane is the shining example of that, with his first move being at Leyton Orient.

"Players like George Feeney, Tye Hall, Rio Kyerematen, James Rowswell, Maeson King and the talented centre-back Malachi Hardy are all among those on that verge of needing their first loan moves, although some, such as Hardy, might be aiming higher up the pyramid.

"Sometimes a League Two move is seen as a better option though than one to a level above that might bring fewer minutes.

"Tottenham always loan out a lot of players each season and Rovers have their good relationship with the club and treated Akhamrich well so will be well placed if there's someone they want."
