Tottenham Hotspur are looking to bring in attacking reinforcements after sanctioning the sale of Brennan Johnson, and a report from TEAMtalk claims that Atalanta winger Ademola Lookman is one of the names on their shortlist.
Johnson recently completed his move to Crystal Palace, joining the club for a fee of around £35m, according to GIVEMESPORT sources. As a result, Spurs might have to try and find a replacement during the January transfer window, and they're now being linked with a host of attacking players.
It's been a disappointing start to the season, and Thomas Frank's tenure overall, so it would be no surprise to see them bring in multiple different reinforcements during the winter window. The north London outfit are yet to make a signing since the window opened earlier this month, but they appear to be open for business.
Tottenham Eyeing Attacking Reinforcements
According to a report from TEAMtalk, Tottenham are one of the sides showing an interest in signing Atalanta winger Lookman during the January transfer window. It's believed Spurs are in the market for attacking reinforcements following the sale of Johnson to Palace, with a host of different names on their shortlist.
Lookman, described as 'world-class' by BBC journalist John Bennett, was born in London, but is currently representing Nigeria at the African Cup of Nations. The former Everton forward is naturally a left-sided forward, but scoring twice in Serie A this season from just two starts.
It's unclear whether he'd be interested in a return to England, having plied his trade at Everton, Charlton, Fulham, and Leicester before his move to Italy in 2022.
Lookman an Upgrade on Johnson
If Tottenham can replace Johnson with Lookman, then that would certainly be an upgrade in their attack. Although Lookman has struggled this season, he flourished during the 2024/2025 campaign, providing 20 goals and assists combined in Serie A.
Lookman contributed with 18 goals and assists from just 22 starts in the campaign before, so he's a proven goalscorer and creator at a high level. It might not be easy for Spurs to prise him away from the Italian club, but if they are able to get a deal over the line, it's a move that would likely please a lot of the fanbase considering what he's produced over the last few years.
