Tottenham fans given hope after underrated gem stars in U18s defeat to Copenhagen

Tottenham fans should pay closer attention to Miracle Adewole after his performance for Tottenham Under-18s against Copenhagen on Tuesday.

Tottenham’s senior team will take on Copenhagen in the Champions League on Tuesday night, but first it was the U18s’ turn.

The Under-17s World Cup meant that Tottenham were without several key players heading into the match.

Their absence was felt after Tottenham’s Under-18s suffered a 3-2 defeat to Copenhagen in the UEFA Youth League earlier on Tuesday, which was their first in the competition.

But despite dropping points, Spurs fans will be leaving with something after a few standout performances.

Miracle Adewole showed his class vs Copenhagen

Luca Williams-Barnett made his senior debut for Tottenham against Doncaster Rovers in the Carabao Cup in September and is normally the name most fans associate with the academy.

However, Adewole is another promising player climbing through Spurs’ youth ranks.

While he was quieter in the second half, the right winger was continuously taking on two or three opposition players at a time.

He showed his class in the 29th minute with a turn of pace on the right flank, sending in a perfectly weighted cross that was wasted.

Despite the disappointing result, Adewole was a shining light for the Lilywhites that Tottenham fans should pay close attention to moving forward.

Tynan Thompson super sub for Spurs

Tynan Thompson’s substitute performance in Spurs’ 2-2 draw to Wycombe Wanderers during pre-season was so impressive that fans named him an appropriate successor to Son Heung-min at Tottenham.

His performance against Copenhagen was no different, where he came from the bench to net Spurs’ second goal of the game. The goal means he has netted in every round of the Champions League thus far.

Indeed, he was electric since coming on for the Lilywhites, constantly challenging defenders on the left flank.

Oliver Irow, who is also one of Spurs’ most promising youngsters, was probably Tottenham’s best player in the first half.

But after a quiet period in the second, Thompson was the guy Tottenham needed to come on and make a difference in the second half.
