Sean Dyche has given his take on the relegation battle and has told Roberto De Zerbi what he needs to prioritise to ensure Tottenham Hotspur stay in the Premier League.

Anticipation is building ahead at Tottenham ahead of Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge, with reports indicating that even the Spurs players are excited about working with the Italian.

However, neither the supporters, players, nor the staff can afford to get ahead of themselves, with relegation to the Championship more than just a distinct possibility for the club this season.

The new Tottenham boss has just seven games to prevent what would be the ultimate disaster, and a manager experienced at handling these situations has given De Zerbi some advice.

Sean Dyche tells Roberto De Zerbi to get Tottenham fit and organised

Sean Dyche has insisted that he would not have accepted the Tottenham job under any circumstances, but the former Burnley and Nottingham Forest boss has told De Zerbi what he needs to do at Spurs.

The 54-year-old suggested that the Italian should focus on getting his side organised rather than relying on talented players to get the club out of this situation.

When asked what Tottenham need to do to stay in the top-flight, Dyche told talkSPORT: “For me it would be: strong, fit and organised. That keeps you up, not just relying on talent. What’s the framework of the side?

“What’s the energy, what’s the output? What’s the hard yards and how much of those are you putting in? You are going to find it very hard to stay in the Premier League if you don’t get the framework and the basics right.”

Dyche forsees a bounce for Spurs under De Zerbi

The experienced English coach refused to predict the outcome of the relegation battle, but he did give Spurs fans something to be optimistic about.

Dyche predicted that Tottenham had hit rock bottom and suggested the only way for them is up from here.

He added: “Tottenham have bottomed out, I’m sure, which means they can only get better. I’d be amazed if they don’t have a bounce. But I don’t think you can call it (the relegation battle). I have no clue who’s staying up.”
