Tottenham Hotspur reportedly have a chance of raiding Manchester United for one of their young gems, as his future at Old Trafford is no closer to being resolved.

It is an open secret that Thomas Frank is keen on signing a top-class number six, particularly given that Yves Bissouma is expected to leave Tottenham this summer.

While Joao Palhinha has been heavily linked with a move to Spurs over recent weeks, it has emerged that the Lilywhites are also eyeing a shock move for a Man United star.

Journalist Dean Jones claimed a couple of days ago that Kobbie Mainoo is on Tottenham’s radar, and suggested that we could see this situation develop over the coming days and weeks.

Tottenham have asked about Kobbie Mainoo availability

TBR Football have now claimed that not only are Tottenham Hotspur fans of the England international, but they have already enquired about his availability.

The outlet says that Spurs are now ‘closely monitoring’ Mainoo’s situation at Old Trafford, with the midfielder having just two years left on his deal.

While United have been locked in talks with the midfielder over an extension for the last 12 months, the negotiations have now hit a stalemate.

MORE SPURS STORIES

The report says that the longer Mainoo’s contract situation takes to be resolved, the more likely it becomes that the Red Devils could cash in on their academy graduate this summer.

It is asserted that a departure from Old Trafford is very much on the cards for the 20-year-old, who is also wanted by Tottenham’s London rivals, Chelsea.

Mainoo could be in favour of a summer transfer

TBR Football say that the youngster is keen to get regular football during the upcoming season so that he can find a place in the England squad for next year’s World Cup.

However, that might not be possible at United as Mainoo is thought to be behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes, Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in Rubem Amorim’s pecking order.

Additionally, Amorim is now looking to add another central midfielder to his squad, which may open the door for one of Tottenham or Chelsea to secure a deal for Mainoo.
