Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi has provided an update on the injury situation of his squad as they prepare to face Brentford in the Premier League this weekend.

Spurs will be looking to head back in the right direction after an incredibly disappointing couple of years.

The north London club have now finished in seventh position in the Premier League two years on the bounce. They certainly showed signs of heading back in the right direction under De Zerbi towards the end of last season.

A trip to Brentford is how Tottenham get their Premier League campaign underway, and it will be no easy task after they enjoyed an impressive 25-26 season.

Spurs have spent significantly in the summer transfer window, so there's no doubt they'll be expecting to at least climb into the top half of the Premier League table.

Whether that is achievable remains to be seen, but they have certainly given it a good go in the market.

Speaking to the media ahead of Tottenham's game against Brentford, De Zerbi has confirmed that Micky van de Ven, Pedro Porro, Pape Matar Sarr, and Mohammed Kudus will all be unavailable for the away side this weekend.

"Micky is not on the list tomorrow like Pedro Porro. James Maddison is inside [it], Solanke inside, Udogie, Fernandes also. Sarr not because he felt some pain, but nothing big. Kudus is almost ready."

The Tottenham boss failed to provide an update on Dejan Kulusevski, but it's incredibly unlikely that he's available after he missed the whole of pre-season.

De Zerbi also failed to provide an update on Xavi Simons and Wilson Odobert. With both players recovering from ACL injuries, it's going to be a while before we see them in action.

Tottenham have strengthened significantly in the defensive and midfield areas, but their attack is still short of numbers.

Injuries to Van Hecke and Porro also leave Spurs with a problem defensively, but thankfully they've brought in new additions over the summer window.

Their attacking options certainly don't scream a side that is going to be competing for European places in the 26–27 season.
